Ama Casa Cottages, of which there are only three, are a superb Drakensburg getaway retreat. Set in beautiful gardens with a magnificent view of Champagne Castle the peace and tranquillity is balm for the soul. Les and Dave are caring hosts and they maintain a very high standard of comfort for guests. I have just returned from spending a week there and I feel refreshed and will surely return. We bought an leather electric recliner from Etienne Lewis Furniture in Montana, Pretoria in the middle of November. Alas there was a structural weakness in the one arm of the chair so we immediately phone the store and spoke with Sonya who had served us. Within the hour she phoned back and said a replacement chair would be delivered to us the next day. As good as her word the next day Solly and Johannes arrived with the new chair! How amazing to have such good old fashioned efficient service. I recommend this store to those shopping for furnishings. The staff are pleasant and efficient and there are no hassles should the item develop a fault.
AMA CASA in the Drakensberg, between Winterton and Champagne Castle, is the ultimate retreat. Each unit, of which there are three, has every comfort you will ever need including a private Jacuzzi. Add this to an uninterrupted view of the majestic Berg, beautiful gardens and gentle bird song and you will surely be rejuvenated in this perfect haven. Les and Dave will welcome you and ensure that your stay gets the label "WE JUST GOTTA COME BAC****" Lovely restaurants, a Raptors Sanctuary, a brewery at the airfield and the Drakensberg Boys Choir plus other attractions are in the area. If I could give it 10 stars I would!!!!
If it's 100% DRAMA, FRUSTRATION and ENDLESS TELEPHONE CALLS you are looking for then look no further! Agree to let Telkom install fibre optics. For four days our internet and email were down!! Don't think they will come and install and all will be up and running. Oh no.... it will be up to you to make scores of telephone calls (hanging on forever!), visit the Telkom store (to no avail!) and be shunted from department to department till your patience has long since been exhausted!!! BE WARNED!!!!
My husband and I booked in at River House Lodge Malelane from the 29th August to the 1st September 2017. The website looked great and we expected to enjoy "the tranquillity of Kruger" ... but NO NOT EXACTLY!!! On all the websites there are no shots taken from the venue showing the downriver view - that is to the right. Why? On the border fence there is a huge concrete and pipe structure jutting out into the Crocodile River - it is the main water supply to Malelane!!!! That is what we were told by Mr Duffy the owner of the lodge. Added to this the municipal water pump was broken and they were using Mr Daffue's pump which made a huge noise 24/7. Now to stay in this for three days and try to sleep right next to it for three nights was certainly not what we had in mind!!! We are retired folk who don't go buzzing around all the time and hoped to just relax and enjoy nature. Sure Mr Daffue helped us to find other accommodation which cost us over R4000. He didn't even give us the option of returning to the lodge for breakfast and dinner and he scored R3225 into the bargain without even having to give us a meal or make a bed! Actually we were of the understanding that since the noise was unacceptable he would refund the deposit but alas nothing has been forthcoming. This is total misrepresentation. The only glimpse one can get of this huge pipe structure is on one of the deck photos showing the chairs and up in the left hand corner it is slightly visible - not that you would realise what it is. Please show this on your website so others won't be misled. Thank you Eleanor Patterson
