Good day , Hope you’re well . Thank you to your amazing staff for their assistance towards making my sisters 21st A success . The food was absolutely amazing and my family was really impressed . Having said that , there are a few things I’d like to mention that I believe could have made the event proceed abit better , and I do hope you take this in the best possible manner . Firstly , I was not made aware that there was going to be 2 other events on the same night as well . I felt that this should have been communicated to me clearly as I was under the impression that we were going to have the whole venue exclusively to us for the night . Due to this , I didn’t think that the setting up of the band would have been an issue . It posed a tremendous delay , as there was not sufficient space for them to set up on time , As tables had to still be adjusted and people had to be uprooted from their seats in order to accommodate the band and the other events seating arrangements. This made me extremely dissatisfied as I came in a few days prior to discuss the seating arrangements . I then advised how I wanted the seating arrangements to be done and for which reasons, To my knowledge , it was going to be set up that way . I was only told on the evening that my requests couldn’t be met due to certain restrictions such as : - waiters moving around freely - other events seating arrangements I was extremely disappointed in the lack of communication prior to the event on my requests not being able to be fulfilled as I planned things accordingly in order to give my sister the best possible birthday . This lack of communication left an extremely bitter taste as I found it highly unprofessional that I wasn’t respected enough to be informed , when I had to pay for a 10% service fee for the services rendered. Additionally , Upon questioning about AV facilities , it was only made known on the evening that a screen and projector needed to be hired . The impression was given that we could utilize the TV , however , it was also only made known on the evening that the TV cannot be utilized for slideshows as the connection to the TV was not easily accessible . This posed as a great disappointment as I prepared a personal special slideshow for my sister , to which I could no longer present . Had I known , alternative arrangements could have been made . With regards to the Buffet , The food was lovely , however there was times when my family went up to dish food and the bay-marines were almost completely empty . I do understand that everyone present , was dishing from the same food source , but I paid an additional 10% for services being rendered , so I expected the food supply to be sufficient throughout dinner time for my event .Also , I find it very dissatisfied that food was taken off tables when my family was still eating , And that little correspondence was made to my family with regards to the servings of coffee and tea . The two female waiters made my family feel uncomfortable as they were staring at my family , whispering to each other and then laughing about it .The speediness in my requests for beverages was extremely slow , however the other customers was regularly checked up on and attended to much quicker The service from your staff , except Anees , has an immense room for improvement. They made my family feel like our event was more of a burden then a homely feeling , based on their attitudes towards us through the assurance .I chose the Kombuis and I resonated with the feeling the restaurant gave me, but on the evening , I felt anything but at home .I am also extremely dissatisfied that I was given a time limit to end my function on the evening , due to venue preparations for an event you had booked for the next day . As a client that paid in full with a 10% added on for a service , this was highly unprofessional as everything was already running late and I felt that my event should have taken preference . It seemed to me that foreigners were treated with a much higher regard and respect and that was disappointing as the foundation on which the Kombuis was established , is from the locals in CT . Restaurants based on heritage should make the people of the city feel more at home , then people who are just coming in and out of the country . I had a high regard for the Kombuis , as I felt that due to it having a rich heritage feeling , my family and future events held there would have that personal touch . That regard has been extensively damaged due to the reasons I previously mentioned .I personally think the Kombuis waiters needs to be trained on the derivation of the roots of the restaurant and the feelings it’s supposed to give off to not drive away people that shares the same heritage as the restaurant .
