We booked with Constantia Guest Lodge on 3 March, because we had to go to Pretoria for an emergency operation on my dogs leg. This being said, obviously I was already stressed out and worried, so when I saw the photos of this Guesthouse on Booking.com, Agoda and the Guesthouse's website itself, I was extremely impressed with what was being FALSY advertised as a well kept Guesthouse, with "impressive amenities". The amenities listed for this "budget" room, was Air-conditioning-which was a small standing air cooler that was basicallyjust circulationthe extremelyhot air, coffe/tea maker-which was a plastic kettle, a desk- which was a table in a small passage where you could barely fit behind, Private Bathroom, which was a bathroom down the hall with a single key, but with years of mold built up under the silicone. We requested if it would be possible to add a single bed, as it was my father and I that would be sleeping there. They charged me R120 additional, and when they brought up the mattress it was extremely dirty and moldy. We expressed our concerns regarding the room to Ross, which conveniently reminded us that we booked a "budget" room. I also expressed my disappointment in the fact that the advertising photographs on All the booking websites does not display at all the room or bathroom we received. He then mentioned that he has no control over what photos are being used for booking sites and the actual website of Constantia Guest Lodge. We were already very stressed out, and unsatisfied with the room and that we would will be driving the 2 hours back with a sick dog. Ross initially mentioned something about a refund, but all of a sudden said No, we won't be receiving a refund if we leave. This is the WORST guest house I have ever come across, and I have stayed at many backpackers, that was in a cleaner and better condition with Friendlier staff. They clearly are not concerned about customer service and only about getting a paycheck.
Customer support is pathetic. I have tried phoning on numerous occasions and every time the agents tells me they made a note on the system and yet nothing get's done. No correspondence. I am being charged for an account I do not have access to, as I am still waiting for Discovery bank to fix the transactional account. Since discovery moved their credit card facility over from FNB to Discovery bank, the fees apparently went up, and after paying my credit card monthly, I now owe MORE than I started with. How is this even possible if I don't use the available balance? Discovery bank is also telling me they can't close this account that I dont have access to, as its a whole suite. This is beyond ridiculous.
The service provided by Soogen Naidoo was very good. He is extremely thorough in his knowledge of the product and services provided by Miway.
