I wish I had seen and read these reviews before hiring from Tempest. These people literally go an extra to make sure that they keep peoples' deposits. I got the car with a tiny dent on the rear door. Unfortunately, I didn't take the picture of it and whoever was doing the inspection deliberately didn't record it. Funny enough, that's the very 1st thing they took note of when I returned the car. In additon to that, I got the car with the fuel reading at 150 Km. I filled up the car on my way returning it, the fuel reading was at 495 Km when I left it but they had the audacity to deduct R 243.65 for petrol. To make matters worse..., 2 weeks later after returning the car I contacted them to enquire about the rest of my depost. To my surprise, I am now getting this response..."Please be advised that due to the claim that has generated against the rental, the refund has been delayed. Please allow 21 working days for the claim to be finalised." It's clear that this is how they rip people off. The upsetting part is that they don't communicate anything, they hardly take their calls and even when they do pick up, they transfer you or put you on hold until you run out of airtime. I believe it's about time Discovery Travel partners with a company that treats people with dignity, instead of ****ming them in every way possible. If I had a way, I would give a ZERO star rating! I'm even considering leaving FNB and try a different bank because now I have to pay charges in order to stop debit orders I never authorized don't even know what they're all about! This is making me sic****!
“Without Prejudice”???…I don’t think so. So contrary to what they advertise everyday on TV. I was involved in a car accident whereby a Kuilsriver McDonald's delivery s****** driver bumped on the back of my car at a four-way intersection controlled by robots. The robots in this case were working accordingly, except that there was no green arrow for the turning cars. In a nutshell, what happened is this; I was driving straight on R102 road at the four-way intersection with Kerk Street on my right hand side and Carinus Street of my left hand side. When I entered at the intersection, the robots were green for me to go but I had to yield behind a car that was infront of me, yielding to turn to Kerk Street. From the opposite traffic on R102, there was another car that was yielding parallel to the one infront of me, but that one was yielding to turn Carinus Street. As the robots were turning amber to green, the cars that were still behind robots on R102, stopped and allowed for the turning cars to move. As I was already in the middle of the intersection, I also continued to move forward as I could not stop or even reverse at that point (in the middle of an intersection). The other cars from both Kerk and Carinus Streets waited for me to clear the way. However, a McDonalds S****** Driver from Kerk Street drove off immediately when the robots turned green, and that caused him to bump my car on the right back corner. The driver said he didn't notice that I was still on the way as he was concentrating on the robots and not the cars on the road. Immediately after the accident, we (me and the s****** driver) went to the Police Station to report the accidents and we both signed. McDonalds submitted the claim to their insurer (i.e. Outsurance) and I was contacted by an Outsurance representative to send the necessary documents for processing of the claim, I did. On the 2nd of January, I received an email from one of their employees, who said she was the one dealing with my claim. To cut the matter short, the same lady called me again and told me that they deny liability on their client’s behalf because their client had a right of way and did not cause the accident. I tried to explain what happened to she was not interested in my explanation, she was just plain rude and dismissing, saying I should have stopped when the robots turned red for me. I asked her, how could I have stopped in the middle of an intersection? She told me that according to the information on her disposal, the robot was green for their client giving him right of way. Therefore, their client was not the cause of the accident. After that, I went straight to McDonalds because I wanted that driver to say it to my face that he did not cause that accident. Interesting enough, the driver said that when the Outsurance lady called him, her questions were in a way driving/leading him towards denying the fact that he was the one who caused the accident. And, as the driver was explaining to the lady what happened, all she held on to was that the s****** driver had the right of way. Even her follow-up questions were directed towards implying that I caused the accident and not their client. Yes, the robots turned green for s****** driver BUT it turned green while I was already at the centre of an intersection (as it is stated on the signed police report). There was no way I could have stopped or even reversed at that moment. It's so disturbing to realize that, as much as their client knew that he was the one who made a mistake of not looking at the cars infront of him, and only concentrated on the robots, he was clearly influenced to deny his fault and not take responsibility for what he knows and acknowledges he did. I'm failing to understand how can the so called legal adviser be the one who is cruel and making clients to lie so she can save money for a company as big as Outsurance. Is the job of the legal adviser to advise the clients to lie and not take responsibility for their actions? Where is justice in that? I really would like to know where does it say or even imply, in the K53, that “when the robot turns green for you and there are still cars that are already inside the intersection which got there while they had the right of way, then you have the right to drive and crash on them because you suddenly have the right of way”. Unfortunately, even their client (McDonlads) is not being helpful at this moment and now I feel like I’m not being taken serious by any of parties involved.
