I am in the process of examining the details of my short term insurance with PPS and found some discrepancies that are not in my financial interest. I insured my first building with PPS back in 2014, which is a small house in a gated security complex at R439.03 per month. This is standard building insurance. Recently, I purchased another property, also in a gated security complex with the same building attributes (according to their form), except the new property is much bigger. For this building they quoted me R265.22 per month. How can the monthly premium be so different between the two buildings, and why is the second building's premium less I asked them? They replied: "I was able to negotiate a discount on the 2nd building when we added this to cover, further to this our rates on the building section has reduced from the date that the 2nd building was added to cover which also resulted in a lower premium" "Please note I have re-loaded the building, which means re-added the building and was able to get the same discount applied to the building which reduced the premium" This means that any discounts or reduction in costs never happens automatically, and that the client should query them regularly to make sure you benefit from any such cost changes. The inverse to this is very obvious, they will implement increases immediately. I am now in the process of trying to get back the monthly difference that I paid for the first building from the date of which my second building was added to the cover. I also asked for the calculations that they used to determine the premium amounts. For transparency and helping me understand what they are doing. It seems you have to think for them to get fair service. I see a general trend in SA, since the economy is not doing so well, not only the services companies provide has taken a turn for the worse, but also their integrity.
I have been with PPS short term insurance for 7 years now and did my first claim for my vehicle bumper. A vehicle crashed into the back of my vehicle, which was not my fault at all. The advice I got from a reputable repairer was that the bumper will never look original if they repair it, and that it needs to be replaced. PPS wants to repair it as it costs significantly cheaper, and so they tried to organise a repair behind my back. They also didn't follow up on the guilty party's insurer to reimburse me for the excess claim amount that I need to pay. PPS never provides good customer service and their policies are geared so they benefit from their clients as apposed to providing a fair service. I can honestly not recommend them!
We booked for 2 nights and had to leave one day earlier due to personal circumstances. The hotel receptionist let us know that we will get a refund and we shouldn't worry. We then left, but later that week when we phoned to get our refund back they said the hotel policy will not allow it. They also don't have proper filter coffee. Its a really bad travelling experience and not like advertised. Don't go there ever! https://clanwilliamhotel.co.za
Took my vehicle in for oil leak coming from the power steering pump. They said they need to replace the pump and fix the steering rack, which cost me R11 000. When I received the vehicle the leak was still there and the pump made a terrible sound. I took my vehicle to get a second opinion at a different garage and they told me the workmanship was really bad. I then took it back for them to fix the leak and the sound, but they only fixed the leak by adding another clamp to the pipe. The sound was still there and they tried to fool me that the sound came from somewhere else and not the pump. But you have to be deaf to not realise that it is the pump. Then I had to take it back again and now its been 3 days, they don't even call you to let you know how far the job is going. Really terrible customer service and bad management! Don't ever take your car to them.
