Thank you so much to Braeden Coetzee for assisting me in purchasing a vehicle. Always prompt in communication, professional and polite. A real asset to Auto Gezina, an excellent business. Highly recommended!
I ordered Gifts online from Exclusive books at the beginning of December and delivery date was given as 23/12.2021. I received no delivery and no communication about the delay in delivery or when the delivery would be made. There was no answer on their helpline telephone service, nor did they respond to my email. I eventually goat an automated response giving me a reference number and stating they would get back to me. NO ONE HAS GOTTEN BACK TO ME. I have emailed twice, no response. I have phoned all 4 numbers allocated to their help line, the numbers don't work. I have phoned all 4 numbers given for their headoffice, no response to any of them. This is significantly appalling service showing absolutely no regard for customer service, customer care or the fact that numerous family members, including 5 grandchildren went WITHOUT their Christmas gifts due this thorough incompetence.
In anticipation of a week’s holiday in the Kruger Park during the April school holidays I made a booking through Ideal Travel for a 6 berth motorhome to be used from 24/03/2021 and returned on the 01/05/2021. The booking was made many months in advance. I have done many previous similar trips but have always used a different Camper Company. We collected the vehicle on the 24/04/2021 from a Mr Musa Chauka. On inspection of the vehicle I noted that the left rear tyre was flat, Musa responded by saying it was fine. We also noted that the fridge door was broken and the tables were very difficult to elevate. Musa got one of his repair men to look at these issues but the fridge handle could not be repaired. We arrived at Punda Maria on the 25th of April, overnighting in Polokwane. The following morning we went driving. After driving for 90 minutes on the main road I heard a dragging noise and discovered that the left rear wheel was flat. After flagging people down, we received help and the flat tyre was removed. To our horror we saw that the wheel was completely flat and had NO tread on the inner half of the tyre. This tyre was unroadworthy and illegal. This was confirmed by the rangers and passersby who saw the tyre. This tyre had burst driving at 20km/hour on a main road in the Kruger Park, just imagine if it had burst on the N1 driving 120km/hour; we might all have died. We kept the tyre with us and its appalling condition was confirmed by the bush garage at Shingwedzi and my brother who was travelling with us. From the company's response it seems they expect clients to check the state of their tyres by physically climbing under the vehicle to ensure tyre roadworthiness. I delivered the tyre to the Johannesburg depot. Clearly they didn't inspect it. We returned to Punda Maria. I contacted Musa requesting that a new spare tyre be sent to us. Musa said that I should drive approximately 30 km outside the park to a small village where they could replace the tyre. I said I would not place my life and lives of my children at risk driving on foreign roads with no spare tyre. He agreed to send a new spare tyre. We were told the spare tyre would arrive at 10am, it arrived at 2pm but was only a tyre rim. This is, of course, useless. Once again I contacted Musa who said I should get a petrol attendant to help me. Pictures of the tyre: This slot does not allow for pictures of the tyre, which I am more than happy to provide. Its worth at this point noting some other vital points: • The spare tyre that we originally used on the burst tyre, had a slow puncture and had no valve. • The fridge door remained broken and swung open when you turned a corner, it was held in place by our suitcase. • The wrench given was too short meaning that the fibreglass tyre rim had to be torn in order to change the tyre. There was also no tyre inflator. • The petrol cap was broken and could not be locked. • There was no rear view mirror and the side view mirrors did not have extensions so it was impossible to see behind the vehicle. • The water tank only held enough water for washing dishes which we did three rimes a day. It required daily filling. • The gas canister lasted 4 days before running out. • After 5 days and on our 2nd last day of our holiday, after my mother had contacted the managing director, we were eventually given a replacement vehicle. After driving this vehicle for an hour the oil change light was flashing and there was no manual for the vehicle to review this. This was once again alarming but it seems that when servicing their vehicles they don’t bother to update the vehicle’s computer. A small thing to do to avoid unnecessary stress for a client. As is obvious from my experience; THRSA, Maui, Mr Grant Groen, Mr Musa Chauka and Ms Hayleigh Coetzee do NOT ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy, do not maintain their vehicles and do not have their clients safety as a paramount concern. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE SHOULD YOU ENTRUST THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR LIVES BY USING THEIR VEHICLES ON WHAT SHOULD BE AN ENJOYABLE HOLIDAY. After allowing THRSA, Maui and management to do an inspection, I received the following response: Thank you for allowing me the time to investigate your matter with our branch and operations team, I have broken down the response in point form below for ease of reference. 1. Tyre Condition - It is to our understanding that you have advised the tyre's on your rental vehicle were not in good condition, I have therefore obtained the pictures of the tyres taken prior to your collection and the vehicle inspection sheet signed when doing your check out. As per the attached tyre images and vehicle inspection sheet, all tyres were provided in good condition as well as the thread being well within the South African legal limit. Unfortunately due to the type of terrain in the Kruger National park and the heat, this can cause tyres to blow out and get punctures, THRSA is unfortunately not able to control this. 2. Replacement Tyre and fitting - kindly be advised that THRSA does not offer a AA roadside assist service, this is the reason as to why Musa had intially advised where a replacement tyre could be purchased, Musa has confirmed a Tyre was sent to you and had been fitted at the time with assistance from the sandsparks ranger/bush mechanics. 3. Water Tank running empty - we have confirmed there was no leak with the water tank, THRSA is not able to control the water usage. A hose pipe is provided in order to refill the water tank while at a campsite. 4. Gas Bottle - All gas bottles are provided as full when collecting your vehicle, gas usage can vary depending on the use for the gas. 5. Air pump - Kindly be advised all our motorhomes are not supplied with compressors. 6. Rear view mirror and difference in side mirrors - All our Motorhomes are standard models as provided by the manufacturer, therefore all standard features are the same in our fleet, however due to the conversion of the vehicle they do not come with the rear view mirror fitted, reason being is that you are not able to use the rear view mirror. Musa had confirmed the mirror was loose on the dashboard in the vehicle. 7. Faulty Ignition, faulty charger point and broken fridge door - I have been advised this has been checked by our rental team however no fault or damage was found, however the vehicle's ignition and usb ports will also be looked at by the workshop in order to ensure all is in order. 8. Petrol cap broken - Musa has inspected the petrol cap and confirmed it is broken, we do sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused during your rental period and our teams handling the pre-inspection will be addressed accordingly. I trust the above is in order and addresses all of your concerns, we thank you for bringing your experience to our attention and therefore allowing us the opportunity to investigate and ensure proper corrective and preventive measurements are put in place. If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me. Rondebosch locksmiths were called out to replace 2 slam lock gates with faulty locks. I had to call them back as both locks remained faulty despite being ‘newly replaced’. I had to call them a third time as one of the two locks replaced remained faulty. On all occasions they did not arrive at the agreed time. I had to phone to find out when they would be arriving. Once again I was told today they would be there at 10am and I arranged for someone to be at my house. Needless to say they did not arrive.
I have a BMW 116i on a maintenance plan. I had a tiny dent on my front bumper repaired recently, it didn’t warrant going through insurance. Auric auto deemed the panel beater “non BMW approved” and cancelled my entire maintenance plan. Current engine repairs have cost me R65 000! A cautionary tale... BMW is SO not worth it!
