“Very disappointing post-installation service. Within six months, parts of the flooring started coming loose. Instead of fixing it, Top Carpets sent us an invoice and claimed it was no longer their responsibility.”
SISONYOUDISCOVERY !! My sister is a nurse – certainly a noble profession but notably not financially very rewarding. Her car – a little Hyundai I10 is thus a prized possession that she has looked after for years. Recently she was involved in a bumper bashing on her way to visit friends. It happened next to Khayelitsha which is a very dangerous spot, but she nonetheless got out and inspected the damages. She noted they were minimal and it seemed more than fine to carry on and deal with the matter the following Monday. She visited the friends and upon departure the husband and wife walked out with her and inspected the damages noting they were minimal. Nobody ever noted any liquid emanating from the vehicle. She proceeded to drive home. After about 30 km’s her little car suddenly lost power and started steaming. She immediately stopped and called a tow truck. It turns out that the radiator had suffered damages which were not visible from the exterior as the “plastic” bumper etc. just bounces back and did not suffer any severe damage. Her little car has a warning light but she did not see anything – it does not flicker or make a sound and she took care to check the damage twice to make sure it was safe to drive. She has comprehensive cover and had she suspected it was dangerous to drive she would immediately have had the vehicle towed. To cut a long story short – at some point – the Discovery “expert” cannot say exactly when, the vehicle overheated, and the engine got damaged. Discovery have now refused to repair the engine – they say she did not exercise “due care”. She is a nurse – she values her little car – it is in exceptional condition, showing how well she looks after it BUT still they claim she was reckless !! This is not a large claim for Discovery but it is a huge loss for her. Discovery very clearly does not care !
Volkswagen Head office has pathetic client service! They refuse to take accountability for their mistakes. I've been waiting over a month for a part that they said would take 10 - 15 work days (27 August). I wrote on their Facebook wall and they insured me that the part will arrive today and that the part will be at the Panel beaters latest on Thursday. Today when I called, they said they have a new eta (the 7th of October). This is totally unacceptable! I've had to take an Uber to work for the last two months which is costing a lot and they refuse to give me a courtesy car (apparently they don't insure mobility) ! Don't buy a VW, they have VERY poor client service!
