Since the start of the pandemic, I've noticed a big downslide among employees in the various retail outlets. This consists of bad attitudes, unprofessionalism, rudeness, laziness, can't be bothered attitude, and this includes the inefficiency of large and small companies with the same bad attitudes, many of whom just blame the pandemic!
Last Friday we visited Cattle Baron, which we both agree is a pretty good choice at any time! The ambiance was just right, the food excellent, with generous portions with attentive waiters. Thoroughly recommended!
Today, decided to try the new Bootleggers in Gardens Centre. What a disaster! My partner queried the 3 options for G&It's at R75 each, to which the waiter said no, they were R35. The drink duly arrived & after a considerable time, two plates were placed in front of me containing bacon & as I had ordered Bacon Scambowl, I presumed it was mine! My partner, who had been away st the time, asked where her meal was, only tobbe told it was the meal I had briefly started. So where was mine? Told it was coming just like Christmas! Eventually, after a long wait was told the second plate delivered to me was a mistake, it contained bacon & scrambled egg, which was taken away. Eventually my order was brought, no apologies either! When we got the bill, the zG&T was R68! Not R35 quoted! We will think twice before returning.
After leaving de Waal Park Sunday last, we popped into Da Vinci's in Kloof Street. It's always a good bet with a reasonalable range of food & reasonably priced, in a relaxed, laid back atmosphere!
Last month I visited Con Brio Bistro, in Vredehoek, Cape Town. It was the most fantastic eating experience I have ever had! I'm no gourmet, but I know when served good food, yet the food at this Bistro, I found completely off the charts! Service was friendly & efficient, meeting us with a welcoming smile, which is the exception nowadays. I cannot recommend the food highly enough & cannot wait to return!
I applied for South African citizenship on 24-07-2012, which is more than seven long years ago with absolutely no resolution in sight! More than 150 emails have been sent with no replies forthcoming! The presidential office phoned me & I emailed all the details & was told that they were totally committed to resolving the matter - that was more than two years ago! I repeatedly phone the number they used to contact me but the phone just rings. Visits to their office in Barrack street result in being told to return in three months, without them even picking up a phone, checking on their computer or calling a colleague for assistance. After enduring this for five visits, I realise I was wasting my time. If anybody out there has any constructive suggestions to sort this out, I will be eternally grateful! I must be approaching the likelihood of being entered in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest waiting customer!
