I recently contacted the NudeBT call centre to query why they were phoning me, as I am not the account holder. I specifically asked where they obtained my number and when this supposed debt started. The consultant confirmed that the debt dates back to 2013 and claimed that my current husband provided my number as a secondary contact. This is factually impossible, as I was married to someone else (Mr Swart) in 2013 and only divorced in 2018. When I challenged this incorrect information and asked for proof of my written consent for them to use my personal information, the agent suddenly dropped the call. I phoned back and spoke to another consultant, again requesting that they remove my details in terms of POPIA, since they have no lawful basis or consent to contact me. Once again, the service was poor, questions were avoided, and calls were simply cut when they did not want to respond. This is unacceptable customer service. Dropping calls, providing contradictory information, and refusing to explain where they obtained my personal data is unprofessional and violates basic POPIA principles. I strongly request that NudeBT remove my contact details immediately and improve the training and conduct of their call centre agents.
