Don't even bother. Useless customer service. They'll ignore your emails so you phone them, then tell you on the phone to send an email. I don't know how a business that isn't interested in customers can stay open.
I called Vodacom's port department on 8 May and 2 June to query whether it was possible to do an MSISDN swap on my Vodacom contract number to a prepaid number. The agents assured me that this is possible, but I should go into a Vodacom store to have this done for a fee. I was quite happy with that answer, and fully prepared to pay for the MSISDN swap, and went to the Vodacom Store in Brooklyn Mall, Pretoria. The service I received was shocking, least of all in comparison with the agents I spoke to on the phone. At first, I was completely ignored by a consultant who instead made a beeline for the person behind me, and seemed utterly shocked that I was there when another consultant pointed out I had been first; then when I saw a consultant, she first was too impatient for me to find my contract number (which took me a few seconds) and demanded my ID to "find it that way", only to tell me the number must be on a different system and to please read her the number. I read the number, she types it in, and goes "no, that number doesn't exist." She tried my ID number again, before asking me, "What was that number again, 072...?" When I had clearly given her the number as starting with 082. When she eventually got around to trying to find out why I was there, all she told me, with her smirk, was that it's not possible to do an MSISDN swap on a number because two numbers cannot be registered on the network at the same time (surely the prepaid number would be cancelled?). I informed her that I was instructed BY VODACOM to come into the store to do this totally possible MSISDN swap, and she threw her hands up, telling me "Well, you got the wrong information". So which is it? Do I listen to the people who I talk to when I call the port department, or do I listen to some badly trained, unprofessional, rude sales clerks at a store where they can barely even acknowledge me (because I'm disabled? I walk on crutches, so I have no brain or no valid position in a queue?) I just want an MSISDN swap performed so I can continue with my contract on the number that is currently assigned to a prepaid SIM. Is this really that difficult?
