I received a Menlyn Park Shopping Centre Gift Card for my birthday from a friend. Today I went to the Checkers in Menlyn Park Shopping Centre and selected items to purchase. All the items were scanned and I presented my gift card for payment. The cashier informed me that the gift card from Menlyn Park Shopping Centre does not work on their system. I could not understand, because I never had a problem like that in previous years. I spoke to a manager and he just apologised. I was upset because Checkers had no sign anywhere stipulating that the gift card won't work. Checkers told me to resolve ithe issue with Menlyn Park Shopping Centre. When I spoke to the employee at the info / gift card counter I was referred back to Checkers. They told me that this issue has been unresolved for 3 weeks already. I went back to Checkers and the manager insisted it is not a fault on their side but Menlyn Park Shopping Centre's side. I was humiliated and wasted my time and parking money because I had to leave empty handed. Neither Checkers nor Menlyn Park Shopping Centre took any responsibility for the gift card that was not working. Neither Checkers nor Menlyn Shopping Centre could tell me what the problem is. Checkers should have had a sign up to stipulatie that the Menlyn Park Shopping Centre gift cards does not work in their store. I would not have wasted my time if I had known. I also think they could have resolved the gift card matter if it was a priority for them. They have known about this for 3 weeks already but I guess a few customers wanting to use the gift card are not a priority and we are easily sent away empty handed. It is also Menlyn Park Shopping Centre's responsibility to make sure that when they sell a gift card it can be used in all the shops in Menlyn Park Shopping Centre. The gift card that was given to me for my birthday should have brought me joy but in the end I was humiliated and had to leave upset without getting anything.

Please do not use them!!! They have a 7 Day Return Policy but I don't think they have ever refunded a customer. Goods are shipped from China and therefore they will not carry the return cost. You have to submit a Return Request via email but it is only for show as you will only receive an email back saying your request was rejected. They have no number to call and there is nothing else you can do about it. I read the bad reviews and still gave them the benefit of the doubt which I regret now with all my heart. Shame on you Deals Daily for misleading your customers that took a chance on you!!!
Builders Warehouse has always been the shop I go to and that is why I am so disappointed in my experience at the Atterbury branch yesterday. I bought two Builders Warehouse brand sockets a while ago, worth about a R100 for both. I have not used them yet. I decided to change all switches and sockets in my home and decided on using a different brand. Yesterday I went to Builders Warehouse with my list and the two sockets I would now not use.I could not find my slips, but thought there would be no problem as they would know I could not have bought Builders brand anywhere else and the packaging was unopened with the barcoda sticker anditisnot perishablegoods and they would not lose money. I went to the exchange counter and explained everything to the lady and explained that I do not want my money back, because I want to buy different sockets and would accept a voucher to exchange. She just said that if I do not have a slip, she cannot help me. She was like a brick wall and unsympathetic. I was so frustrated I gave her the 2 sockets and told her that she can keep it then, because I don't want them. I went in the store and bought R 4,100-00 worth of sockets and switches. I thought it is ridiculous that I spent so much money at Builders Warehouse, but that they could not even accommodate me with exchanging 2 sockets worth a R 100-00. I asked to speak to a floor manager who did not listen to me and did not care about my situation. She barely spoke to me and seemed preoccupied, not even looking at me. I just left. I am disappointed in you Builders Warehouse.
