I am a member of the Come Hike and Cape Peninsula Ramblers hiking groups, as well as participating in the 24in 2024 Peak Challenge. I love my Vivo Barefoot Magna Forest Esc L Bracken Lime Leather hiking boots. I love the way they look. I love the way they perform, and I love their Michelin grip. My shoes have carried me in comfort and style on multiday hikes like the Tsitsikama trail in Nature’s Valley, and many rugged day hikes around Table Mountain, Silvermine and Cape Point, Cape Town. There is, however, a design defect, which radically shortens the life of this tough wearing expensive boot. The sole is stitched to the boot. The stitches are on the outside of the boot where they are exposed to rugged terrain. This is a design defect. A hiking boot is built for hard wearing mountain climbing. These conditions are not suitable for exposed thread. Within 2 months the stitches began to erode, causing the sole to come away from the boot. While the sole may be glued on to the boot, the stitches hold the sides of the sole to the boot. Without the stitches, the sole separates from the boot, creating a gap where little sticks, stones and sand collect, making the gap wider. When walking in wet conditions, water seeps into the gap and compromises the water-resistant quality. Also, this semi-loose sole could prove to be a tripping hazard. Please can you address the design defect in my boots. I tried to address this in person at the Vivo Barefoot Cavendish, Cape Town branch. The response was hostile and unpleasant. Without looking at the purchase date on my slip, I was told I was not within the 6 months warranty period. My slip proves otherwise. The assistant was defensive, and her parting remark was ‘Well, every shoe has it’s flaw’. This is an unfortunate comment to make while working for a high-end, performance and lifestyle shoe brand. Looking forward to your response. With kind regards, Heather
The Dext website advertised ‘Products and Services’ on the Business Plus Plan. We took out a subscription based on this feature. Dext said they made an error advertising Products and Services as part of the Business Plus Plan. Despite this misrepresentation, we were told, we can subscribe to the more expensive packages, double the price or more, if we want the Products and Services feature. The Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 promotes the advertising of products in a fair and reasonable manner. It also forces advertisers to ensure that no misrepresentation is made about their products. Dext needs to address this issue. I think Dext needs to acknowledge there was a misrepresentation of their product. They should honour the original Business Plus sale agreement and provide the Business Plus Plan with the Products and Services feature at the advertised monthly price of R362.25 for a 12 month subscription. Subsequently, we have subscribed to the more expensive Premium Plan. I confirmed with Dext that we would be billed monthly. Instead of the monthly amount of R724.50 coming off the account, the entire annual amount of R8,694 has come off. I would like a refund.
Dear Sir/Madam, I like Capitec Bank and am usually happy with it. Unfortunately when doing an EFT I put the branch code where the account number should have been. The beneficiary told me they had not received the funds and pointed out my error. I tried to rectify this in the local Longbeach Mall, Noordhoek, Cape Town branch. I was told on a R340 EFT I had to pay R150 to have it investigated. I was told if you don't have it investigated, the money might return to you if the account number does not exist. I suggested Capitec is effectively stealing my money. I was told, Capitec is not stealing your money because it's your fault you made a mistake. Surely I am not the only one who has made a mistake. I would really like my R340 back. Would Capitec please oblige? Please let me know. Thank you.
