After the terrible "non care" we received for our beloved Rusty last year during September which lead to his death after being promised that he would be home at the end of the week after multiple prodedures, I strongly advise that you rethink leaving any sick animal in their "hospital" 1 year later we received no explanation, no follow up on our numerous requests, made even by our attorney for an honest answer as to what had happened to our recovering Rusty. Please also insist on accurate quote before you hospitalise there as the quote and the final statement were very different. Lastly this all transpired over the public holiday in September, so make absolutely certain that they have the care that they advertise over the upcoming long weekend. There is not a day that we do not cry over the loss of our beloved Rusty that survived being a bait dog in a dog fighting syndicate before we adopted him, but he could not survive the care or possible lack thereof in this place!
After agonising over opening up a driveway in my private residence in the Durban North area, we struggled to get contractors to quote for gate automation on site. I therefore chose a Durban North contractor who had done small jobs here and there on our property. I handed him a quote which I had got and asked him to do a comparison and if in fact it was the correct automation and locking options from a security point of view. He gave his word that between a mag lock as well as a CISA lock and the automation that not even a 8 ton truck would make it through on forced entry. The worst decision I made was to give him the work. In order to not get too detailed I will list why I would never ever chose him again. 1. Sloppy untidy work that had to be remedied 3 times by the gate manufacturer as he completely damaged the bespoke designed gate. 2. 2 months later the work is rusting at joins etc. 3. Neither lock now works after paying exadurated prices which he capitalised on during the civil unrest in KZN. 4. Every snag that was presented to him, he would charge more. 5. Outsourced parts of the work to a very passive aggressive rude third party. 6. Gate sagging back which it never did originally. 7. When calling him this week to mention that nothing is holding gate closed he said he could not repair today after we waited 3 days for him to arrive. 8. When I mentioned that he would need to get it back to working and locking ,he blamed the fact that we now needed a stopper which I agreed I would get someone to install but not him. I also mentioned I would not pay him to get the gate to working order and that his work guarantee after 2 months should cover it, at which point he started shouting and screaming and refused to repair. This is his normal way of conflict resolution (denying and shouting) I will now get hold of another contractor, who I know will repair, I would rather pay someone who will guarantee their work, take ownership, accountability, is honest and does not scream at customers. Please consider your choice before spending huge amounts of money with this company. Lastly he arrives whenever he feels like it ahttps://www.hellopeter.com/write-a-review#nd does not notify before hand. Mostly before 7 am, which I found incredibly invasive.
We should have known to not take our Rusty there when faced with an accident situation bigger then a local vet in our area could handle. During August 2019 we were referred to an eye specialist vet who worked from Westville Vet and hospital. Our adopted Great Dane Arnold was adopted with Glaucoma. He was initially seen by Westville vet soon after he arrived from Great Dane Rescue South Africa as per their recommendation, that we bench mark the Glaucoma. A year later we returned to check and after a discussion and visit we scheduled for an ultrasound and a possible eye removal as he had no vision. To spare you of the long version, they performed and ultrasound and then a CT scan and then said that they could not perform this operation and that our Arni should be Euthanised. I raced back from where I was scheduled to be about 1 hour away to find Arni shivering on the floor of the vet with his drip still bandaged to his arm with nothing attached. I asked why the needle was still in his arm and they replied,' so they could Euthanise him'. We were clearly horrified and took him home for a second opinion. The bill was again a fortune and disproportionate for absolutely nothing that we did not know already. Arni is alive and well living his best life with the same Glaucoma today 2021 No pain just a little scary to look at. We are left asking "WHAT" do these people actually do other than run up huge bills and then suggest putting your much loved pet to sleep. Never a follow up call or any kind of care given. Scary to think, had we not returned immediately, they would have added Arni to their very high stat of Euthanising animals. Great pity that in the moment of the emergency with Rusty, we had no time to consider our options. Please google for all reviews on this vet. If I had, Rusty would not have been taken there.
NO WORDS not even worth one star .........just read these reviews to work out if you love your pet...do not go to this place. As a very involved animal activist, animal lover and animal rescuer and dog and cat owner. We rushed our beloved Rusty into this emergency vet. After taking a R15000 deposit which they were mostly concerned about, we left our Rusty in the hands of these people. I could name the main suspect of lies, disrespect and total lack of integrity, but I will not for now. I will let Carte Blanche or the likes do that. To summarise they operated on our beloved dog Rusty over a period of 2 weeks. The actual vet seemed professional and kind. The problem was after each surgery done late on Fridays, he would take the next few days off and Rusty was left with the most defensive, hard, horrible and unkind people. They were guarded and unwilling to actually care. Rusty allegedly had 2 "successful" operations. He was on his way home that week, on the eve of Humans rights Day which is a public holiday and caused all three partners and the CEO and anybody else who mattered in that "clinic" to have a 5 day + break. I arrived to see Rusty as we did each day and could clearly see that something had happened. He was glazed over, panting in huge distress and very dehydrated. I had to cup my hands at an outside tap to give him 22 handfuls of water. I queried this issue and asked to speak to the vet on duty. This person remained completely uncontactable after numerous requests and then eventually called back to say she had x-rayed Rustys lungs. There was nothing wrong with his lungs. they had concealed, ignored or abused Rusty which had caused acute pain which results in panting. They had covered his surgeries which were before open and healing. When queried they said there was swelling. They made the next 5 days impossible to get answers and left our poor boy to suffer for 5 days. We visited him each day with no VET reporting to us and the staff making pathetic excuses for his ongoing deterioration. Eventually the vet involved arrived back from his 5 days off and put on an incredible display of not knowing what happened. Very unauthentic. I then cross questioned him and it was revealed that a pin from one of the surgeries had split through the skin and the mystery person removed it without mentioning into me. This story actually would make a great documentary on why to not EVER go there. Rusty died and they are still demanding an additional R 41 000 with a suspected clear non disclosure, abuse or neglect. They are uncontactable and have got lots of very unpleasant debt rough scary people to demand their money. We have asked for a meeting, and a way forward to bring this terribly tragic sequence of events to an end. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. Just google reviews on hello peter and facebook and google and read what actually goes on there. If I had, I would still have my beautiful Rusty. I cannot forgive myself for trusting these terrible people!!!!!!! Subsequently we have had 2 other serious pet concerns and we have found our dream vet. She has saved them from both being very ill.
Being an avid animal activist, rescuer, and owner, I have really found recent vet visits either traumatic or non effective. This was the most incredible experience from an honest, very clever, kind compassionate vet. The Doctor on duty was Dr Judy Ratner. After deciding that you could not own a pet living in Durban, I found Dr Judy. I was so impressed I had to share this amazing review as she is really busy but she totally deserves her success. Her team are caring and professional. I am not sure what would have done without her. She brought both Orlando my cat and LillY my great dane to good health after both getting sick with no clear warning. Such gratitude we have a professional vet left in our city.
