I paid R790 from my FNB account to theirs for online matric tuition after being rushed to pay the same day due to a promotion. Only after payment was I informed that a study permit was required — this was never disclosed upfront. I immediately requested a refund. Despite it being an FNB-to-FNB payment, I was told I must wait 14 days for a refund so they can “verify” that the money reflected. This is unreasonable. During this period, they continued contacting my daughter to discuss course options, even though a refund was requested. When I escalated the issue, the supervisor was rude and disconnected the call. Very disappointing experience. Parents should ensure all requirements are confirmed in writing before making payment.
I did not know, not even in my wildest dream that there is such a level of poor and incompetence at FNB. I went into NWJ to purchase rings for my wedding. On Wednesday. Did pay through scan to pay and the transaction did not go through immediately by the merchant speed point. Money was deducted from my account and I expected a reversal instantly. It did not happen, r11321. 95. This is at East Rand mall. I am a private client banker, tried to call the private client desk & my private banker without any luck. They were not available and am now starting to panic. Went into the bank and was assisted by a consultant after almost 40min of a frastrating wait. The gentleman tried everything in his power, supervisors called and managers called they could nor reimburse my money. Imagine it is Wednesday and wedding is Sat and they are telling me that the turn around time is about 7 to 14days they see the money but they have to investigate to see what happened. I was told not anyone in FNB is able to reverse the transaction instantly. The worst one is when we spoke to the manager at the private client dest, he said he has never seen such a transaction and did not know how to fill the form for investigations to start. I left the bank a broken man without even a case number. No money no rings, this is how FNB treated me and apparently my phone battery was flat now with calling them back N forth. I do not know still how I will go through the wedding without rings and if ever I am going to get the money. I had all receipts with me. They just couldn't help me but just feel sorry for me. This bank is so incompetent you will be shocked. I pay huge bank fees as Private banker but no privet banker was there to help me and the entire Westrand mall personnel couldn't just help me. Poor Mose, deligent consultant tried everything in his power for 2 solid hours but nothing, no help came through. I will never forgive these guys for ruining my wedding
