• I booked and confirmed a compact SUV hire car through Tempest for a trip to Kruger with payment only being made upon collection (collection of car 1/7/2023) • Then recently I found a really good deal through Drive South Africa for the same class of car. Compact SUV. Hyundai Venue • I cancelled my reservation with Tempest and booked the Hyundai through Drive SA • It emerged that the supplier was in fact Tempest • All good. 10k paid and the refundable 9k would be reserved on my credit card at collection. Confirmation of booking received. With a picture of the vehicle in question • I absolutely understand that one cannot be guaranteed a specific model or vehicle however ‘or similar’ is the standard clause. I.e. a compact SUV • This week I emailed Tempest with my reservation details and asked that if at all possible and depending on availability, could we get a Hyundai Venue or Toyota Urban Cruiser • I was informed by Tempest that in fact there are no compact SUV’s available in that category of vehicle, only sedans • Emails bounced back and forth and Drive South Africa eventually intervened to say that Tempest had changed the car models in that category and that they (Drive SA) couldn’t be expected to update the offers on their website accordingly • And that they’d be happy to upgrade me for an extra 6k and 5k on the refundable deposit.
Pathetic and fraudulent. I ordered and paid for a duvet cover 5 months ago and to date have received nothing. Shocking customer service with multiple promises to call back and no follow through. Buyers beware!
