• I booked and confirmed a compact SUV hire car through Tempest for a trip to Kruger with payment only being made upon collection (collection of car 1/7/2023) • Then recently I found a really good deal through Drive South Africa for the same class of car. Compact SUV. Hyundai Venue • I cancelled my reservation with Tempest and booked the Hyundai through Drive SA • It emerged that the supplier was in fact Tempest • All good. 10k paid and the refundable 9k would be reserved on my credit card at collection. Confirmation of booking received. With a picture of the vehicle in question • I absolutely understand that one cannot be guaranteed a specific model or vehicle however ‘or similar’ is the standard clause. I.e. a compact SUV • This week I emailed Tempest with my reservation details and asked that if at all possible and depending on availability, could we get a Hyundai Venue or Toyota Urban Cruiser • I was informed by Tempest that in fact there are no compact SUV’s available in that category of vehicle, only sedans • Emails bounced back and forth and Drive South Africa eventually intervened to say that Tempest had changed the car models in that category and that they (Drive SA) couldn’t be expected to update the offers on their website accordingly • And that they’d be happy to upgrade me for an extra 6k and 5k on the refundable deposit.

In 2020 I booked a car for a holiday in South Africa. I paid upfront: R17,940.00. Then Covid hit us and I had to cancel my holiday. I tried numerous times to claim the money from Drive South Africa, and eventually gave up because nobody ever got back to me after promising they would. Now I am trying to book another car and use some of the previous money as credit. I spoke to someone at their head office, and the person I spoke to looked up my reference number and confirmed that I still had the credit. After trying again and again after that to sort out the issue all emails remain unanswered, and I cannot get in touch with anyone who can help me!!! This kind of behaviour is shocking. I will do everything in my power to discredit these criminals who have stolen my money and refuse to refund me or give me credit.

I booked a rental car with Drive South Africa and was given a voucher to produce to a third party Thrifty. On the collection day Thrifty could pickup my booking but not the payment which was made online with Drive South Africa. They processed my booking and was told they would follow up on my voucher. To my surprise I was debited a day's rental amount by Thrifty. I followed up with Drive South Africa as I had made the booking with them. I was given a run around about investigating and finally told that Thrifty made a mistake and that they would initiate a refund. I have nit received a refund to date and I followed up with Drive South Africa with no response this time. On the last communication they indicated that this issue is now out of their hands hence I requested trail of communication with Thrifty and the relevant person to follow up with on my refund.

I booked and fully paid for a rental car with them in 2020, they could not deliver the car that was promised to me and after more than a year of empty promises to refund my money they have still not refunded a cent! They keep pushing back the date and it seems I will never be able to get my money back...

I booked a car rental for 1 week via the internet and their website. All looked legitimate. After I paid in full for the booking and received confirmation of my rental agreement via email..... all of a sudden I got an email from them which said- " Sorry, we made a mistake with your rental and there are no cars available in Cape Town for your requested rental". Now they refuse to refund my rental money I paid. This is classic internet fraud/theft. Today I opened a case of theft/ fraud against them at Cape Town SAPS police station... but I think my money is gone. My lawyers are also trying to get my money back... without success sofar. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR RENTAL COMPANY WEBSITE...IT IS A SCAM.

I booked a car rental for 1 week via the internet and their website. All looked legitimate. After I paid in full for the booking and received confirmation of my rental agreement via email..... all of a sudden I got an email from them which said- " Sorry, we made a mistake with your rental and there are no cars available in Cape Town for your requested rental". Now they refuse to refund my rental money I paid. This is classic internet fraud/theft. Today I opened a case of theft/ fraud against them at Cape Town SAPS police station... but I think my money is gone. My lawyers are also trying to get my money back... without success sofar. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CAR RENTAL COMPANY WEBSITE...IT IS A SCAM.

I cancelled car hire on the day of collection.I was supposed to be charged a 2 day car rental as stipulated in the voucher.But the company would not refund me back for the remaining 3 days of the rental period.All they are stating is cancellation policy during the pick up period of 15th December to the 4th of January 2020.Please assist as I am supposed get my refund of 3 days out of 5 rental period.Thanks
