I heard a radio reviewer opine that this unit shaved well and easily and was an answer to the high cost of razor blades. Takealot's price was by far the best, so I bought one, and I confess to being disappointed. I have found it not very intuitive to use and didn't cope well with a 3-day beard. I'll keep trying but I'm not sure if it will prevail. It might work better on longer hair. It comes with 2 "spacers" for 1mm and 2mm trim lengths but I'll never use.
I wanted to buy a garden sieve and logged into the Builders app to see if such was available. Firstly, I was very unimpressed and annoyed by the search facility; I entered "Garden Sieve", which it accepted. Then the wheels came off - I was presented with an initial selection that did not contain any reference to my inquiry (other then the word GARDEN) and an option to "Load More". I was then obliged to hit the "Load More" button a huge number of times (I lost count) and got right to the end without there being ay reference whatsoever to my query. So I emailed Builders with a complaint, observing that their search facility was dreadful and just another example of an application created by people who never had to use it themselves and so had no idea how awful it is. They responded the next day with a call from a manager who apologised for the trouble and informed me that there were no such items in their inventory. This was followed by a call I received today, in which a lady advised me that Builders does not stock such items as they are essentially custom-made by a company in Cape Town, But she went on to advise that she had conducted a search for my requirement and found that it was freely available from Chamberlains - a direct competitor! Whether or not the search facility will be smartened up I have no idea. (I can only hope . . .) But I must commend Builders for going the extra mile in an effort to meet my requirement, and for having the decency to refer me to a competitor.
I created an order at WaterHouse online but did not complete and pay for it because the delivery charge was vey high. Since I live fairly close to the company's premises I decided to go to their offices and collect the items I wanted. Firstly, on the day after I entered the unfulfilled order, they followed it up with the offer of an extra 10% discount. So I found the premises and was helped by a charming young lady named Chelsea. I had a most satisfactory experience there and was able to obtain the item I wanted, and the extra discount was allowed - more than in full! I can honestly say it was a pleasure to deal wit the company
Used Bobshop to buy a few small things. Wide product range, excellent prices, prompt delivery, friendly and efficient careline.
Took my very old cat to the Ferndale branch of Twisted Whiskers to get the lumps in his fur combed out. It took an hour and a half, but he came out sleek and smooth and eminently pattable. Excellent service.
I have always found the Vox technicians to deliver excellent service with every query or problem. - prompt, efficient, knowledgeable.
I have used Bergen's services in the past and found them satisfactory, if perhaps a tad expensive. So when my Bosch dishwasher broke down this week, I contacted them again. They sent a truck to collect my machine and to assess the repair requirements. I was informed that the electronic control board was faulty and would have to replaced, at a cost of over R4,000. Since this was unaffordable, and for not much more I could buy a brand-new machine, I declined the repair and retrieved my machine. And just to be sure, I called in the services of another company for an on-site assessment and repair. This company sent its technicians around, who opened up the machine and ran some tests. The outcome was that a pressure sensor valve was faulty and needed replacement. This was done at a total cost - callout, part replacement etc - of R1,480, and the machine now works perfectly again, at a considerable saving. I do not understand how or why Bergen's apparently made such an error.
I recently had to replace the sound card on my tower computer. To my delight I learned that it is no longer necessary take off the covers - technology has moved on, and one can now buy a USB-connected "soundcard" . So I did. It as not easy to find but eventually I got an ORICO unit from Matrix Computers. It was a bit pricier than I expected, but needs must when the devil drives. I took it home, plugged it into a spare USB port, hitched up the headphones, and BINGO! Excellent sound, full stereo, plenty of volume.
I accidentally snapped off the stem of s precious wine glass. Luckily it was a clean break, which I unsuccessfully tried to repair with an available adhesive. In the hope that a glassblower could fuse the two parts together, I took it to Glassblower Industries in Honeydew, Johannesburg. Gary told me it could not be fused as this would cause the whole thing to crack because of the type of glass material, but said they would try with a UV-curable adhesive. This they did, and the result is as near perfect in alignment and appearance as can be expected, It took only about half an hour, and he refused payment for the task.
When the radiator on my car failed, I urgently needed a replacement. I shopped around, for quotes and was horrified at the cost - virtually unaffordable, CarCare Clinic in Fairland Walk not only came up with by far the lowest quote but even generously negotiated the price. Naturally, they got the job and I'll keep using their services.
