Dear Makro Customer Care, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my recent experience at Makro Springfield and the handling of a defective product. I purchased a complete JoJo tank setup , which included a pump. Upon installation, the pump was leaking and had to be replaced. Approximately three months later, the replacement pump also became faulty and had to be sent in for warranty assessment. On [17 January 2026], I visited Makro Springfield to purchase a new pump so that I would not be without water supply while the faulty pump was sent in for warranty repairs. Less than an hour after purchase and installation, I discovered that the newly purchased pump was also leaking. I immediately contacted Ivan, the store manager, and explained the situation. Despite the pump being defective straight out of the box and purchased less than an hour earlier, I was informed that Makro’s policy requires the pump to be sent in for assessment and that no immediate replacement would be provided. I raised my concern regarding the Consumer Protection Act, which clearly states that consumers are entitled to a replacement, repair, or refund for defective goods within 7 days of purchase. Given the urgency of the situation and the fact that this was the second pump I had purchased solely to ensure continuity of water supply, I found Makro’s refusal to replace the pump unreasonable and contrary to the spirit of the CPA. As a result, I was forced to purchase yet another pump from a different retailer, as I could not be without a functioning pump. I have since informed Makro Springfield that they may proceed with the assessment, as I will not be purchasing another replacement from Makro. This experience has caused significant inconvenience, unnecessary expense, and has resulted in a complete loss of confidence in Makro’s customer service and after-sales support. I request written feedback on this matter and clarification on how Makro intends to align its in-store policies with the Consumer Protection Act. Kind regards,
I was so satisfied with the professionalism of Ron and his son. They came to my property and was very friendly. They went over each item with me and explained why they were covered or not covered. they did extensive testing and even checked the plug sockets to make sure there was power. Thank you very much for your service.
