Same old story. Discovery doesn't pay. I recently had an operation. I called in 4 times to make sure which doctor to go to so that I dont have to pay in. I have confirmation from the manager that I can attend the op and Discovery will cover. I have that recording and what does Discovery do, they only pay 50% & says the rest is for me as the balance is more than Discovery rate. Well that's BS coz you said it was 100% covered. We pay so much per month , why cant you pay your due.
Look, we all have stories of when discovery doesn't pay out. It's literally in the news just two weeks ago. They like to hide things in T & C's. My recent experience was the last straw. My company forces us to have discovery but best believe I am officially done with them. Get this, I have had an issue for a while and finally went to the doctor to get a diagnoses. I called discovery to let them know and that I would need a consultation and possible operation. I did this 3 times to make sure I got the same information. They told me what I need to do get authorisation and what I need to avoid co-payments etc. When it came time to making the actually claim for authorisation, they now changed and said I need to go on a 2-month course etc before I can go for the op? Now why was this not mentioned when before I went in? Well because it's not real. After speaking to a manager, after 45 minutes of waiting, Sue was finally able to help and approved my authorisation. What changed? Nothing except the fact I pushed back and I assertive in the fact that I was not accepting this. Now it's suddenly approved. You guys are ****mers. You walk over people and deny claims unless they push back. Even when it's a legal procedure, you try your best not to pay anything but yet you will deduct our premiums monthly without a second thought. Based on that recent interview with you CEO, it's clear discovery is just a brand name. Advertises well but it definitely doesn't care about " the individual or collective". Save yourself the stress and leave discovery
It seems you guys are unable to handle policy changes. I have been back and forth with you guys regarding a recently policy update where I had to change the date on my policy to a later date. Yet my debit order still off Early. A whole month earlier. I actually had the same thing happen to me literally a year ago when I added my cellphone to my policy. You deducted me early. And In both resolves, it's just going to end up being that I get a credit and a an apology "We're not like this" ( like the apology I got one last year from the manager). Oh and of course they said " this isn't us" and "We're sorry for the inconvenience" Second time! Second time you through my cashflow out in JAN and this time is was alot. I have been a customer for just about 3 years now. My experience so far with this company has not been pleasant. They are much cheaper than Outsurance as an example but the service quality is much poorer as well. You end up stressing because these people cannot handle admin and considering this is the second time in a row, I cannot say it's isolated. All this added stress is making me want to move my polices over to a more expensive but reliable service. This doesn't feel worth it. Give my money back.
Absolute horrible customer service. Your call consultants are rude and uninformed, plus you guys are terrible at delivery, which is literally your whole job.
As per usual in my dealings with Discovery, I can never seem to get a straight answer. This company over all the years has been one the single worst experiences I've had as a whole. I've never had a good experience and I would leave it if I could. The least incident (ref 11501613893 and 11508589776). I called in 4 times in the last three weeks. Each time, your customer services personnel never followed up with me and never saw to my request. The only helpful one was Leah and even she could not give me an answer. My only request is to ask my PMB extension was denied. I requested an extension due to the fact that my mental health is declining and I need on-going therapy and I have a diagnosed disease. Instead of giving me a reason for why is was denied, it was just denied. Even after I requested for reasons 4 times now. Their excuse "You might manipulate the report so that you meet the requirements". I can play the same card and Uno Reverse that argument. You cannot withhold my medical information. This company is disgusting. You boosted a 29% return with R15.2b made in the last financial year. Profit, I can imagine, is only being made by constant denial of claims like this.
I would not bother signing up with Old Mutual if I was planning to do retirement. I did a thorough comparison and Old Mutual comes out 6% higher iro of costs than other companies. Their EAC is 7,4% effective in the first year, the cost of which would set-off any gains that would be made that way. Second year it's 6% odd and then 5,4%. The industry average is around 1-2%. They use their brand to hide their ridiculous cost. This is a ****. Secondly, I did initiate a contract with them but before the debit order went off, 10 days before I informed Old Mutual that I am reconsidering my policy with them. Yet they still deducted my account. It has been a month and I have not gotten my money back. I am definitely not signing with Old Mutual now. They still have my money and every week they tell me it's been processed and every week, I check and my money has not been returned. I am also losing out on interest as this is my money and I would have invested in. Old Mutual is clearing just using their name brand to rob people. If you think I am lying , speak to the consultants Zakkariyya Sattar & Sayed Fakroodeen, they can testify I am telling the truth.
Over the years, I am been very unfortunate to be with discovery. My company forces us to have a contract with them but if it wasn't for that, I would never ever use this service. This just a name brand which you are paying for. Their staff is kind but other than that, you don't get your money's worth. It's overprice & over-hyped. I don't actually think discovery actually covers anything and I pay over R3000 p.m. Don't waste your time signing up here. Just go to literally any other medical aid. You'll save time and effort and ALOT of money.
Let me start by saying that I have been banking with Nedbank since I was 13 years old. It's going on 18 years now but the last 3 years have been shockingly horrible. I don't have enough time for detail and the constant back and forth but I want to highlight some issues that will and can affect the next person signing up. 1) They double charged on credit card fees for over 3 years. I should have paid better attention to my statements but they did this. They refuse to pay interest on the money as well even though the had kept my money for over 3 years ( after the compliant was logged) 2) They took 3 years to resolve the above query and actually closed my complaint 3 years ago about this without resolving it. 3) They increased my credit limit with my authorisation and when I asked how that could happen, they said their records don't go so far back ( contravention of the companies act actually , as all records must be kept for a minimal of 5 years.) 4) They got my greenbucks amount wrong and I had to fight 3 months before they fixed it. 5) Their lack of security also resulted in ****mers *****ing from my mother, without her authorising the payments. And to sum it all up, you log a compliant and they don't follow through. I had to call and raise the credit card issue again after 3 years as I realised it was never dealt. In summary, Nedbank has poor security and even poorer systems. The people are not really friendly when a complaint is raised and worst of all, they WILL ***** FROM YOU and won't think twice. Nothing I said here is made up and that's the saddest part of it all. The last 3 years have been terrible. I mean look at their share price over the last 5 years. There is a reason for that. If it wasn't for that fact that I want a good rate on the house when I purchase, I would leave Nedbank without thinking twice.
Very disappointed with the services provided to sign. For 3 weeks I've tried to sign up. They have tripled deducted me in the same month and got all 3 premiums incorrect. I've raised numerous emails and calls but they seem to unable to ratify the situation they caused. Imagine, a company this big, not being able to do premium collections correctly. So here I am, without insurance now because they cannot get their admin right and no I've spoken to , including superiors has cared. This company does not care about you, that I can promise
