I am absolutely appalled at the total lack of preparation and co-ordination of the 702 Walk the Talk race 20 August 2023. With there being strict control of T-shirts, one would assume that the Organisers were well aware of the volume of entrants into the race. There was NOT ONE single Marshall directing either traffic or the walkers at all. Besides the ridiculously long queues (2 plus hours) to get into the venue, there was the slightly less frustrating exit queue of an hour. The problem was not the lack of parking, but the lack of Marshalls ensuring the traffic flowed efficiently. Cars were driving 3 deep along the road as exasperated walkers tried to get to the beginning of the walk. I have never seen cars being allowed to drive on the actual route walkers were walking along. This was not only extremely dangerous, but with every vehicle that passed, huge billows of dust were stirred up for the walkers. Again one would assume the Organisers would have wet the route a little (not drenched it) to reduce the amount of dust. To add insult to injury, the walk was not even scenic - it was literally walking along dirt roads. This event was more costly than the majority of other walks/runs with far less value in any form. Surely with the money collected from 22 000 entrants, 702 could have paid for Marshalls (or requested for volunteers). This has cast an extremely poor image on the walk, with thousands of frustrated participants, a lot of whom will most likely not venture to do that again.
<div>I went to Parys for the long weekend and bought a Carrol Boyes salad server set on the Friday, but when I got back home on the Monday I realised it was a duplicate. The store was closed on the Tuesday and when I contacted them on the Wednesday they said I would have had to have returned it on the same day in order to get a refund. The set cost R1800 - I would warn everyone to be very certain about what you but from them as you will be stuck with it. Think twice before purchasing any of their Carrol Boyes stock.</div>
I am loathe to even give this company a one star rating. The technicians came out to repair my freezer on 15 December and as it was just before the public holiday, I paid them R2200 without an invoice being issued. I was told I would receive an invoice, that their workmanship had a 6 month warranty and that I should contact them if the freezer was still not working. The freezer was not working the following morning, so I tried to contact them several times in the weeks that followed but to no avail. I regret not reading previous reviews from other dissatisfied customers before using this bogus company. They are a bunch of thieves who once they have received your money, have absolutely no intention of repairing their poor workmanship. The phone numbers supplied are not for a valid business and they only supply a street name with no actual number as their address.
I called this company on Tuesday 6 Dec. 2 men came out on Wednesday and said I needed a part which they would order and fit on Thursday or latest Friday. With no contact from their side, I phoned on Monday 12 Dec, only to be told that they were waiting for the part. Today, a week later, still no part or repairs done. Appalling service. I should have read the reviews first and can only concur with other complainants.
I travel to Cape Town quite often and only use Woodford Car Hire. They are friendly and deliver a great service. They have always been very accommodating when I have extended my stay and needed to booking dates. Their cars are all new and exceptionally clean. I can only recommend Woodford Car Hire.
Do not order from this company!! I was going to order a number of items, but after reading the bad reviews, I only ordered one item. I ordered in February, was told it was out of stock, three months later still waiting for the refund. No acknowledgement of emails, nothing.
