Despite my husband and I both independently using BRAKENFAL TRAILER HIRE for many years, our 2025 got off to a SHOCKING start. 1) The ladies at reception, could find no record of either of us on their system, and we had to re-register. Not expecting this, we did not have all the registration documents with us and I pulled out my laptop to retrieve the documents that they required. Unfortunately, at that moment my laptop ran flat and when i asked if I could charge it to retrieve the documents, I was told by the sales ladies, that I may not (despite a socket right next to my side of the sales counter). They said that their manager will CHARGE THEM if they allow clients to use electricity on site. I offered to pay R5 for the privilege, but they both went very silent, refusing a long-standing client, this very basic assistance. Consequently, it took almost an extra hour for us to organize municipal rates documents to be emailed and approved by, firstly their off-site manager and secondly then, the apparent owner of the company. We were very late and very inconvenienced. 2) Due to a mechanical breakdown, we returned the trailer at the end of the 3rd full day, four hours later than contracted. Despite letting them know of our situation, they still insisted to be paid another R300 IN CASH, 3) Its also very 'interesting' that this horrid company ONLY TAKE CASH PAYMENTS and I wonder what the South African Receiver of Revenue might think about that? It must be challenging in this day and age to operate a substantial cash only business and declaring all that cash to SARS. Its bizarre! Even the market traders at Milnerton Market have Swipe Machines. What's your excuse?.
98%. Good - We bought our Nissan NV from Travino after having seen five other NVs at different dealers around Gauteng. Willowcrest had the best van and a fair price and made sure that it was roadworthy and ready for me two days later. We drove 10 000 km to Malawi and back to Cape Town without a hitch. 2% bad - After getting stuck in Sand in Mozambique we were horrified to realise that the tow hook was missing from the Van. Travino later staid that the road worthy does not include a tow hook, however it was a very difficult situation at the time and I feel that Willowcrest should make sure that all cars are sold with a tow hook.
Almost two months after my car accident, I have still not had a resolution or payment. The call centre drags on, half an hour can elapse with their hold music and the promise to return the call seldom happens. Emails go unanswered while agents go on leave and claims are just put asside for their return. Emails sent, but not acknowledged, then 'lost', but later retrieved until the next agent asks for the same stuff again. Its just a delaying tactic to prevent settling claims. After paying R500 a month for two years, budget insurance are valuing my bakkie at R38 000 and thus have written the bakkie off as their ridiculous repair cost was over R55 000 (Double my other quotes). They have now proposed giving me back the wreck for R24 000 and then a cash playout (less EXCESS) of R8000 with which I can repair my bakkie. I have been forced to accept this nominal payout, but they now cant seem to finalise the claim. I dont know if its a "go slow' or just incompetence", but this has been very badly handled. My second uphauling experience with BUDGET INSURANCE in a decade. POLN: CLM:01
