Vodacom upgraded my contract without consent instead of cancelling – ********* and misleading conduct I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with the service I received from Vodacom. On 11 March, I contacted Vodacom to cancel two of my numbers that were due for cancellation. During the call, the consultant informed me that the contracts were only due in 2028, which made no sense as I have had these contracts for a long time. Instead of assisting with my cancellation request, the consultant started offering me discounts and then suddenly told me that I had “won a new phone.” At no point did I clearly agree to any upgrade or new contract. I have now contacted Vodacom again, only to discover that the SAME two numbers I explicitly requested to cancel have been upgraded without my consent. This has effectively trapped me into a new contract and additional financial obligations that I did not agree to. I find this extremely ********* and misleading. It feels like I was deliberately manipulated during that call. I have since visited a Vodacom store where a cancellation has now been logged, and I have a reference number as proof of my original intent. Reference number: **********6 I am requesting the following: • Immediate reversal of the unauthorized upgrades • Cancellation of both contracts without penalties • Written confirmation that I will not be held liable for any additional charges resulting from this If this matter is not resolved urgently, I will escalate it further through ICASA and other relevant consumer protection channels. Vodacom, this is unacceptable. I expect accountability and immediate resolution.
