I ordered an Philips OneBlade from Takealot, when it arrived I tested it - doesn't work. Sent it back and they are telling me that they cannot take it back because it is used -REALLY? I then wrote a bad review for the product which got rejected, reason is that I should only write about my experience of the product and not the fact when you buy it from Takealot and it doesn't work you cannot give it back.
Santam employee denying claim under ‘due care’ policy conditions. We had wind damage - the geyser Solar Panel was blown off and in the process damaged the roof. My wife tried to get contractor to fix, but couldn't. She then got the local painter to fix the roof temporary. He did the work and paid him in cash, but she had difficulty getting an invoice from him. After a lot of pressure she got the invoice from him and when he wrote it he put the current date on. Santam's assessor refuses to pay out this item because of the date (even after being explained), he agrees it is correct under ‘due care’ policy conditions, but due to date will not budge on his decision. It is a shame, because this means in the future we will not believe due care will be honored and that they try to get out of any payments due to technicality.
So after 5 years of living UNDER SMD I've decided to pay the piper his due (Special pice R12,900 + R26,500) to remove SMD's BMS and logger and put new BMS into my 3X batteries. This after my logger stopped working anyway and SMD giving the most stupid reasons (yes, the system has been online {except for you changing my settings and not being online when there is load shedding and I actually need you} for 5 years). You need to understand that me being a mier ndactually went of the grid to save money it is a very bitter pill to pay this money, but outweighs the problems I have had, the headache my poor wife has has and the total of +/- 40 days of no power (SA, you think load shedding is bad - go SMD and see what is bad. Adios SMD
We are off the grid and in the last 4 year we have had Solar MD system we have spent 45 days approximately with total failure of the system. The last one my wife and 2 kids had to endure a month of total power failure - when contacting the "Help App" they basically told my wife they will not be able to help her because she is not qualified electrician, even though our installer was speaking her through what to do..... THEY BASICALLY IGNORED US 100% The only way they would help is that we had to pay an electrician to remove the batteries (we have 3 x 3.7kW) and take them to Cape Town to see. They were then nice enough to do us a favour and not take 2 weeks, but 10 days to switch the batteries on. It is now basically a month later and till date I have asked Voltex and SMD to let me know why the batteries switched off - the BMS is supposed to look after the batteries. I still haven't received a report or any information - NONE WHATSOEVER!!! The other problem is that SMD can change the setpoints of your inverter. E|very now and again my inverter setpoint changed "by themselves", when quiried SMD they say they didn't, so either their system is hacked or I'm doing it in my sleep. Just don't know why I would change a off-grid system to be only charged by GRID... Also when there is Load shedding their App doesn't work all the time - when I queried it they said I should be aware that they have thousands of people on it and that I cannot expect their App to work all the time - WHAT THE HELL, REALLY.... Personally if I can give back the batteries and just get 50% off my original investment (which is substantial) I would sell them tomorrow - anyone out there looking second hand SMD batteries contact me (0824424553) SMD - I loathe the day that your system was installed in my house.
