What disappointing and atrocious service from Discovery insurance! From the initial stages of the claim process right down to now where they have now decided to reject the claim for something that is nonsensical and that we had no control over. Their lack of communication, dismal service, lies, delays and lack of urgency for their paying customers is disgusting to say the least. We lodged a claim with Discovery Insure on the 17/07/2022 at about 10:00AM after we had noticed damage emanating from an incident that took place on the 16/07/2022, we called up discovery and arranged for the vehicle to be towed as we did not want the vehicle to be further damaged upon us driving it. The vehicle was only picked up the day after we made a claim (18/07/2022) at around 19:00PM this was after we had to wait the whole day and make numerous calls because no action was being taken and no updates were being given at all! Bearing in mind that we were nowhere near home (171 km away) and had no place to stay that night. Since lodging the claim we have had to constantly contact Discovery for any sort of update or movement on the claim, it took Discovery more than a Month to approve the claim and this is only because I was calling them daily to do their jobs efficiently! We were denied a car hire extension despite the fact that the claims process was taking longer than expected at the result of Discovery Insure. We have even had to personally go to the repairers to find out why the process it taking so long only to find out that all reports were already sent to Discovery and that approval was being stalled due to them. At this point we have no car, are paying for the car installment and the car insurance but still no movement! Fast forward to 18/18/2022(18:34PM) where we are sent a text saying the claim has been approved and that repairs would commence, till this day no word from our assigned claims consultant Mr. M. Rambuda or their manager Diana who I was promised would contact me regarding the slow process of the claim and our Car hire dispute! Throughout me calling Discovery Insure after the claim was initially approved we were told that most likely the Car would be a write off due to the extensive damage on it. Now imagine our surprise when I call in to get yet another update on the 22/09/2022 and am told that the claim is now rejected and that I should expect a rejection letter outlining the reasons and options we have. When was Discovery Insure going to alert us of this if I hadn’t called? Answer is probably NEVER! And guess what? The rejection letter never came I had to call up today (26/09/2022) to check if I’m ever going to get it so that we can lodge an appeal. It was only drafted while I was on the phone with a consultant- I wasn’t even put on Mute or hold and could hear the whole conversation even them saying as a matter of fact that my Dispute will be unsuccessful, as to why I do not know! We finally read the rejection letter and it says that our vehicle is somewhere in Port Elizabeth and we need to collect it within 7 days! We live in Durban and the incident occurred in KwaZulu Natal how did the vehicle end up in the Eastern Cape is beyond me. We are currently on Month 3 without a car and the appeals process takes about 30 days which means by the time they reply(if they even will) it will mark 4 Months without any resolution to a matter that should have been sorted long ago. Never have we ever encountered such an unprofessional, disappointing and deceitful Insurance company such as Discovery Insure in our more than 20 Years of insurance history. If you don’t want stress when it comes time for you to claim do yourself a favour and stay FAR FAR away from Discovery Insure. They don’t even deserve the 1 star rating, they deserve 0!
