We booked a table for 6 people for Christmas Lunch. It cost R600 per head, so you would think you will get something special or decent. As we arrived at 13h30 the salad and dips arrived withing 5 minutes. We could already sense there was a rush to get us to eat and leave. We hardly started with the starters and they came to take the main course orders. In the meantime, the vibe was poor, no music, and no feeling that it was Christmas. They took our main course orders and when we asked what is the rush, the manager told us that " the staff need to get home for Christmas" We actually wondered why then do you open for Christmas lunch if you want to let your staff go early, rather don't open the restaurant and let the staff go home. The food arrived and out of the three options, calamari, some form of sliced lamb swimming in gravy and grilled chicken, only one of us enjoyed the chicken, the rest of the food was pre-prepared and horrible. There was no atmosphere or Greek music to liven up the day, some guests asked for plates to break and the manager gave the 6 side plates to break. I complained twice via the Mykonos review app they have without a response since 25th December, hence i decided to write this review. In addition, on walking to the toilets which are disgusting and dirty and smelly you have no choice but to look into the kitchen via the open door and see the filth and dirt on the floors. Thats if you don't slip in the passage to the toilets and break your neck due to the filthy floor.
We hired a micro bus, Mercedes Vito in December 2022 for R33 000 for 7 days to take our guests from the US around C Town. This is not a small amount of money. When they handed the bus to us i noticed the fuel gauge at 3/4 full. I approached the chap that handed the bus to us and he said " all Mercedes Vitos have a fuel gauge problem and do not show 100% but the fuel is full" Luckily i took photos of the fuel gauge when i received the car. We then drove off and after a few km's we noticed that the bus was a noise /vibration box and not a bus, it was like driving a bakkie loaded with steel. We could hardly hear anyone talk without shouting at each other. We settled down into our accommodation and after the second day our guests decided that they could not bear the noise anymore and decided to use UBER instead. I called the support/help line a few times with no response. We hardly used the vehicle and only did about 400kw in the 7 days, a real waste of money. On returning the vehicle i filled up the fuel and to my surprise the fuel gauge went full and i paid more than what i received. I also took photos of the fuel gauge. So in actual fact they lied to us about the fuel gauge. I then wrote a complaint to THRIFTY office about the lies with photos, the poor quality of the vehicle and requested an explanation. It took 3 weeks after my continuous emails to them to respond. Their response was that they are still investigating. Eventually they offered to pay R400 for the fuel that i over paid, no explanation why they lied to us and no apology for the state of the vehicle. There is no way the THRIFTY office in C Town did not know of the noisy car as they would have to drive it to fill up fuel. I am also sure that other people that hired it complained about the noise and obviously the THRIFTY office just ignored it and simply rented it out to us. I hope this warns other people of the poor service and quality of their vehicle.
