I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and concern regarding the treatment my mother received at Netcare Cuyler Hospital in Uitenhage on the evening of 16 March 2026. At approximately 20:00, my mother was brought into the Emergency Room while in a critical medical condition. Upon arrival, a file was opened for her and she was formally registered under file number 1018741045. Despite being registered and present in the emergency department, my mother did not receive any medical care or assistance during the time we were at the hospital. We remained at the facility for approximately three hours, from around 20:00 until roughly 23:00, waiting for help that unfortunately never came. Given the seriousness of her condition and the lack of assistance, we had no option but to leave the hospital and urgently seek help elsewhere. She was then taken to Life Mercantile Hospital in Gqeberha, where she was immediately admitted into the ICU and is currently receiving the critical care she requires. This experience has been extremely distressing for our family. We trusted that Netcare would provide immediate assistance in emergency situations. The fact that a patient in critical condition could be registered, remain in the emergency department for hours, and still receive no medical attention raises serious concerns. I sincerely hope Netcare investigates this matter and provides an explanation as to why emergency care was not provided despite my mother being registered and present in the emergency facility.
