What a pleasant experience dealing with AC Shop, Ashley was extremely helpful, he gave me constant updates on the process of my order, my order was processed quickly and dispatched still the same day, I will definitely deal with them again.
I ordered my contract + router on 14 March 2023, and received it 17 March 2023, the request to activate the sim was done on the same day and was informed that I should be connected by 21 March 2023 at 11:00 I phoned customer care on 22 March to report that I have no connection (3G/4G light stay red) the coverage unit checked and found that the system does not pick up that the sim card is inserted in the router and said that the sim card is faulty, they put me through to customer care to be advised on the best way to correct this issue. Customer Care said the problem is not with the sim card but with the router and that I should return it to an MTN store and request for the contract to be cancelled. Device + sim card returned to MTN Port Shepstone (Shelly Centre) on 24 March 2023 I have been calling customer care with no success, I'm being put through from department to department. The Retention's department put me through to another department and instructed me to inform them of the IRMS number, she confirmed that the device was received by the warehouse and was approved for cancellation, and that I should speak to the cancellations department, they just put me back through to Retention's ... My problem now is that no one seems to be able to put me through to the correct department to actually cancel the contract for a device that was faulty. I have been billed for this contract since March up to date.
Today on 20/03/2023 at 15:00 I've already reset and reconnected the internet 7 times for today only, this has been going on for a few weeks now, when I'm actually connected I run at ridiculous download speeds of of between 0.8 - 1.7mbps and upload of between 1.9 - 2.6.and the best part is loadshedding has been suspended for today, so it can't even be blamed on loadshedding. Since my contract started I phoned them on many occasions with connection issues, their response firstly blamed loadshedding and secondly the router that shown to have issues (Alcatel). I'm now just over 12 months into my 24 month contract, and if I want to cancel the contract now, I have to pay a fee of R5 507. Where is the consumer protection??? Why do I have to pay or get penalized for a product that that is not 100% functional. I'm a sole proprietor and work on internet 24/7, my income is influenced by this, so I am forced to take out another contract with another service provider just to be connected, and keep on paying for a service that is useless (it is cheaper to stay on the contract for the duration than to cancel it) Are there any remedies in place for this kind of situation?
