Mybroadband recently published an article - https://mybroadband.co.za/news/industrynews/526751-afrihost-wins-2024-mybroadband-award-for-best-broadband-isp.html However I beg to differ! I recently requested an ONT device relocation from one room to another at my property. Apon requesting more information from Afrihost, I was told telephonically that there would be a R1000 call out fee and re-install, plus if TTconnect (the only fibre provider in my area) would require to extend the fibre, they would charge me per metre of fibre cable. Me being in IT over 25 years knew the low cost of fibre cabling, agreed and accepted the move. Anyways the TTconnect team arrived a couple of days later. Moved the ONT device, and then phoned their 'splicing' guy to join the new cable. I asked this guy where he did the splicing and he pointed to an outside box across the street, probably around 15m away. Cool I reckoned to myself "not that much extra on top of the R1000" Until they presented me with a "job card' of R3000 !! What? I asked them and they said that that was their standard fee , and they insisted that I needed to sign that the job was done, and that Afrihost would then add on to the next debit order this amount. Straight away I raised a support ticket on Afrihost's client zone portal, raising a dispute, stating what they had originally said, compared to what TTconnect is charging. I received very little feedback from Afrihost during this time, eventually they told me that I am liable for R3000, as I signed the job card 🤔 A month later they invoiced me R4300 for my monthly fibre costs and ONT relocation. I stopped payment, and they are now threatening me with disconnection, without even considering my dispute. No choice, I paid the full amount today, and have sworn that I will never do any further business with Afrihost and have put in a cancellation. You refer in your web article mentioned above - "'Keeping customers happy". What a load of hogwash!!! Is this your business model Mybroadband? Receive monies from Afrihost for a 5 star review?I

I went to the "HomeMakers' Fair in Midrand, beginning of March 2024. I purchased a "tens" machine from a great sales giuy - Tawana. My father suffers from peripheral neuropathy and I have seen various Facebook posts in the past, claiming that this type of machine can provide some relief for his pain. I was promised by Tawana, that there is a 60 day back guarantee. I asked for an email confirmation stating this, which I got from his boss Fabio (turns out after doing some research that he is in fact the owner. I then purchased the product for R3,5k (a lot of money for me) Anyways 30 days later, I have a serious conversation with Dad, asking if it works or not, and he said that he did not want to disappoint me, but no it has made no difference. Next day I sent a WhatsApp to Tawana asking how to get my money back and get the device collected. He responded that I need to reply to the original email from Fabio and he will sort it out. Email send. No reply. WhatsApps sent to Fabio{I could see that he was online) but never answered. I then told him that I will complain in forums like this if he does not respond! Then straight away he leaves a voice note, ensuring me that this is not a ****, and that he is very busy, but he will contact me first thing the next morning. Last time I have heard from him since then - 02 April It is now the 12th, let's hope he is not buying time and waiting for the 60 days to expire?
