Promise for refund was kept and money was paid to the client.
I am pleased to report that I was fully refunded today, 23 Dec 205, for the unused paint, which I had returned to the paint shop previously.

Promised Refund Is Still Outstanding
On 26 Nov 2025, I bought a 5 liter can of paint from this shop and realised afterwards that I am not going to use it. I did not open the can and returned it to the shop on 5 December, as not used and I was informed by a clerk in the shop, that I will be refunded. On 10 December I spoke to the owner of the shop, Rudi van Schalkwyk, about this matter and he said that he will refund me. Today is 20 December and he still has not yet refunded me and I did not receive any further communication from him, regarding this matter.

Poor Client Service

Refusal To Pay Back Deposito
During March 2021, I contacted Chris from The Handy Boys (Maintenanc) in Cape Town, for a quotation for bathroom renovations at my place. The arrangement between us was that I will pay a deposito upfront and then I will accept and sign his quote and forward it to him. Then he will start working at my place. I did pay the deposito, but then I read through his online reviews and they were very bad. I realised that I cannot risk making use of his services. I therefore did not accept or sign his quotation and I notified him within 3 business days, that I will not use his services and the reason why and that he must please pay back my deposito. However he refused to pay back my deposito, which means that I had lost that money and he has never started working by me.

Misrepresentation
Chris of Handy Boys, Cape Town, indicated on his quote for bathroom renovations at my place, that he is registered with the CIDB (construction industry development board). However his registration with the CIDB already expired on 09/09/2019. This boils down to misrepresentation.

UNFAIR TREATMENT BY CONTRACTOR
During March 2021, I contacted a mr Sandmann from The Handy Boys Maintenance in Cape Town, for a quotation for bathroom renovations. The arrangement between us was that I will pay a deposito upfront and then I will accept and sign his quote and forward it to him. Then he will start working at my place. I did pay the deposito, but then I read through his online reviews and they were very bad. I realised that I cannot risk making use of his services. I therefore did not accept or sign his quotation and I notified him within 3 business days, that I will not use his services and that he must please pay back my deposito. However he refused to pay back my deposito, which means that I have lost that money and I feel that that is not fair., as he never started working by me.

Bathroom Renovation
I can strongly recommend this company for bathroom renovations. They are very reasonable with the quoted price and flexible wrt payment terms. They were here every day, as well as on Saturday and they finished the work in good time and the quality of their work is excellent. They use specialists for plumbing and for tiling.
