I logged a complaint with MIOSA to help me get a refund due to Hyundai Somerset West selling me a defective vehicle. After sending so much proof of each defect, emails, phone call recordings, screen shots, proof of the dealership lying, reports from other dealerships with proof of the defects etc. MIOSA knew the torque rod was broken and the lower control arms were completely worn causing so many issues. The dealership fixed those 2 issues, within the first 2 weeks of ownership, after a huge fight. Then 2 weeks later, another dealership I took the vehicle to, confirmed more broken parts and defects. I then requested a refund at 5 months due to more and more issues occurring. This back and forth went on for 6 months (after I logged the complaint). 4 out of the 6 months I did not receive ONE reply from MIOSA. I was not "allowed" to talk to anyone who was "helping" with my case. When I called the MIOSA call centre for follow ups, (due to no one ever responding to my emails, I could only call to get any feedback from the call centre), I was told to "practice patience". I was trying desperately to get answers due to breaking down on the side of the road regularly, being stranded with my children due to this defective vehicle. To then be told, after 6 months, that the broken speedometer and broken petrol gauge need to be fixed by the dealership and the rest was seen as "wear and tear" (even after all the proof I had sent in proving it wasn't wear and tear), and that the rest is my responsibility. All this after complaining since day one of ownership and keeping within the 6-month protection act MIOSA offers. Looking at all the other reviews on Hellopeter, I should have come here first before wasting so much time with MIOSA. It's quite sad that we are meant to have an organisation who are meant to be there for us when we get sold defective vehicles by car dealerships. This is why so many dealerships keep doing this, because there are not consequences, and they keep getting away with it. Extremely disappointed!
I purchased a preowned vehicle from Hyundai Somerset West. I was sold a dream and the vehicle had low mileage which is the reasons I purchased. By the time I got home from collection, I realised how defective the vehicle was. Sending the dealership a list of concerns on day 1 of ownership. After having the car seen to, completely broken parts were found as well as a whole list of other defects. I was spoken to with such disrespect by the dealer principal, Wolfe, and had to fight for any sort of correspondence from him as well as the manager Justin. They refused to refund, and I had to FIGHT to get some of the issues fixed. More and more kept needing to be repaired over time. By 16 weeks of ownership, the petrol gauge completely broke and I kept breaking down (ONE of the issues I reported from day one). I gave up trying to get a refund through MIOSA and the dealership and in the end, I lost a lot of money!!
