Two weeks ago I wrote a review regarding my 83 year old mother who is blind and whose account was frozen due to a ID issue. ID issue was fixed and went to Standard Bank to update FICA details but we were told that they need a proof of her pension although the pension is paid into that (frozen) account for the last 20 years. Up to date this account remains frozen untill I am able to take another day of from work and make the 85km trip to assist her. In the meantime my mother must borrow money to buy food, pay rent and live because she cant touch the money in her account. Standard Bank have lots of time to bombard their customers with phone calls if they trying to sell something but they can not make phone calls to warn their customers( for 60 years) that there account will be frozen. Standard Bank you have gone too far and my mother and myself (a customer for 40 years) will be leaving you very soon and move to a bank who,1) Care about senior citizans, 2) Care about disabled people and also have phones that not only do marketing calls. You are a absolute disgrace to say the least
My mother aged 83 who is blind for the last 20 years have been a customer for 60 years and myself for the last 40 years. In 2021 I was issued a card for my mother in order to take care of her needs and her account was linked to my account. Recently I tried to use this card and it kept saying "declined". Internet banking also did not work. I visited Pickering Street branch and did enquiries where I was told that the account was frozen due to FICA. According to them my mother app**** for a ID card in 2014 ( a lie she app**** in 2024) and never updated the FICA details as her green barcoded ID is no more valid identification. I did enquiries at Home Afairs and no ID card was issued yet as the sytem at home affairs went of on 2 of her visits and the application could not be captured meaning it is still a open application and no new ID was yet issued. How can Standard Bank say the ID on there records is not valid( because a new ID was issued) but Home Affairs never issued one. Now my mother aged 83 is unable to buy groceries, unable to draw money and I am unable to even transfer money via Internet banking. How do you expect my mother to live? Best of all there was no prior warning about this. Instead of going through this whole process to obtain a new ID I think its going to be easier to just say good bye to Standard Bank and open a account at another bank( myself and my mother) as this is totaly unacceptable. If she app**** for a ID in 2014 as they allege why in this world did the issue another card in 2021??
After my work vehicle was damaged Auto Body Works PE was approved by the insurance to repair the vehicle. Waited about a month for them to order the parts before the vehicle was booked in 28 May. Repairs was supposed to take 2-3 weeks. On 9 July we were told that finally the windscreen would be fitted on that day or at the latest the next day. On 10 July after doing enquiries I was told that they will let me know as soon as they came to fit the windscreen. Same day at about 13:00 ABW phoned me and said that the person fitting the windscreen arrived. At about 16:00 I asked a co worker to drop me at ABW as I was positive that the vehicle would be ready before closing time. Sadly the vehicle was not ready and I was told there is a process to be followed (vehicle must be inspected etc) which I understood and I asked if the vehicle would be ready the next day as I also need to make arrangements and I was only told they would send me a message when it was ready. 11 July at 14:00 I phoned ABW and did enquiries. Once again I was told that I will receive a message when its ready and they could not tell me if it will be ready the same day once again using the excuse of inspection. At the moment there is still no word from them. If the vehicle is not ready be honest with clients, dont feed them all sorts of excuses as they slso need to make their arrangements, honesty goes a long way. As far as my own vehicles are concerned I will never use ABW. Absolute pathetic service. Will never ever recomend as Im sure evrn a touch up would take weeks.
