Nomhle Mabe from MiWay Blink was very very helpful with my claim for a windscreen chip.
While Johannesburg Surgical Hospital boasts a beautiful facility, unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the quality of service provided by its staff, particularly the nurses and kitchen staff. My father is currently hospitalized at this facility, and our encounters with the nurses have been nothing short of disappointing. One nurse in particular, Rhuzani from Surgical Ward C, has consistently displayed rude and unprofessional behavior. Recently, she rudely interrupted my father's church visitors during designated visiting hours, treating them as if they had overstayed, despite arriving on time. This incident is just one example of her dismissive attitude towards patients and their visitors. Additionally, we've encountered issues with accessing my father outside of official visiting hours, which has been inconsistently enforced by different nurses. While some have been accommodating in the past, Rhuzani has denied us access, claiming it wasn't visiting hours, contradicting previous experiences at this and other hospitals. We have witnessed other patients receiving visitors outside of visiting hours, especially if the patient is mobile and able to sit in the lounge area, as confirmed by the nurse manager just yesterday. However, Rhuzani seems to have an issue with allowing such flexibility, despite clear permissions from management. Moreover, cleanliness and professionalism among some nurses are concerning. Some nurses appear unkempt and do not resemble healthcare professionals, which is disconcerting in a hospital setting where hygiene and professionalism should be paramount. Furthermore, the kitchen staff's service has been equally disappointing. Orders are frequently incorrect, and they display a complete lack of courtesy towards patients. They deliver meals abruptly, without greeting or offering assistance with adjusting trays for patient convenience. Despite raising these concerns with both kitchen and nurse management, promises of improvement have not materialized. In contrast to our experiences at Flora Hospital, Olivedale Hospital, and Fourways Hospital, where service has been consistently respectful and patient-oriented, Johannesburg Surgical Hospital has fallen far short. Despite assurances from management, there has been no noticeable improvement in staff attitude or service delivery. In conclusion, while Johannesburg Surgical Hospital may have impressive facilities, potential patients should be aware of the subpar service, unprofessional appearance of some nurses, and lack of courtesy exhibited by certain staff members. Until significant improvements are made in staff training, appearance standards, and attitude, I would caution others considering this hospital for their healthcare needs. The persistent issues with Nurse Rhuzani's attitude towards visitors and her inconsistent enforcement of visiting hours remain unresolved, leaving us questioning the true root of the problem with her conduct.
