I received an SMS on 3 April 2025 stating that I have given consent requesting a credit report for affordability assessment. The SMS included my ID number but a different person's name. I HAVE NEVER GIVEN THIS COMPANY MY INFORMATION. This seems *****ulent especially under someone else's name.
Vodacom has been sending emails to me, and I'm not their customer. The email address of their customer on their database was clearly an error. When I called their customer line, and reported this, I was told they can't find the customer name or details... meanwhile I'm getting their customer's private information (invoice for new cellphone contract, profile updates, etc. POPIA VIOLATION??
Since 31 July 2024, I've been receiving emails from FNB Business about my account being at risk of being frozen. The deadline to update FICA info for compliance was 12 November as stated in the email. I updated my FICA info on 08 October. Compliance status on FNB Online Banking says "completed" because I actually completed the check process. My account was frozen anyway, with no communication from FNB about my account now being frozen. Had to deduce from EFTs not being sent, but the account still accepts transfers. Secure Chat operators weren't helpful: they both shared an automated "copy-paste" instruction on how to update my FICA info... DIDN'T I DO THAT ALREADY?! And their 087 "helpline" just keeps me on hold. HORRIBLE BUSINESS BANK!
