From December 2024 to current i am still unwell writing this complaint. Due to their claims process they have affected my relationship with my specialist and i am even scared of contacting my specialist as i sent them many emails stating that my specialist will only fill out forms in accordance to diagnosis, they repeatedly sent emails to him, and my specialist did not want to continue treatment as he is extremely busy and he cannot be bombarded with mails. This was brought to the attention of bidvest and they ignored it. To date im still unwell yet they dont listen, i am only in contact about health with GP and i cannot afford to be paying specialist bills. My GP has recommended me 6 months leave , this was sent to them yet they look at every possible route to not pay accordingly. Poor service and they make you more sick asking for so many requirements, i have been diagnosed with CONNS SYNDROME, Secondary Hypertension, syncope and my heart rates are extremely high. Currently i am having severe headaches, my hands are numbing, body pains, bp going up, and im even scared to email them as they will ask for a list and i dont have a specialist help anymore as im scared that this will tarnish our relationship further. Sad that i cannot cancel as i have a current condition and this will affect any other insurance i take out. Regards hope that there is a way forward

Good day I am extremely upset with the level of service received by Bankmed 1) I have never had any break in medical aid- Normally only when there is an actual break in medical aid meaning that I was not a member or dependant on any medical aid there would be a general waiting perod- However I had no break, I was a member in 2017, left bankmed and went to discovery(Bankmed is affiliated with Discovery) so I don’t see why the waiting period should even apply. 2) You guys placed a 3 Month General waiting period for myself. 3) I cannot even afford to buy medication of even visit a GP- I paid a double premium last month. 4) Honestly if I knew bankmed treats people like this I would have never joined. 5) Although I was a dependant with discovery itself I could actually get treatment as well as medication. 6) For me now it seems that I am paying for nothing and not receiving proper medical treatment. 7) I cannot even buy my medication as I have hardly been working due to being ill and I haven’t been taking new medication prescribed due to the high costs. 8) Honestly your service is very disappointing and I wish I never joined. 9) Every person I speak to gives a different message and your staff is not helpful at all. 10) I cant even go and see a GP or specialist- I already spent +-R5000 out of pocket excluding medical aid costs. 11) I am still unwell and cannot even get proper treatment. 12) I am sending this email and having my family save this as should anything happen to me I want bankmed held accountable as I did not know joining you guys meant that I cannot get any help which is sad. 13) Even when I asked about plans I had to ask so many questions to get proper information- even then the information was not satisfactory. 14) I am a Hypertension patient, I have Syncope, irregular heart beats, Hyperaldosteronism- Now I cannot even walk as I have an issue with my legs. 15) I cannot afford to even buy my medication as its so expensive. 16) Again should anything happen to me i have advised them on this mail and it will be taken further- I don’t have an issue with paying for medical aid but I need to have proper treatment. I am extremely dissapointed by the way in which my application was handled. I have a pre approval, however expenses that should not have been on application are sitting there. Pre approval valid for 3 months subject to me selling my rental property. What kind of service is this when you can see month on month installments are being paid. My tenants pay me cash for lights and water and i pay through my account. My accounts are all up to date and no arrears yet the clause is subject to sale of my property. Its sad that you take me through the whole process and take so much of my time and at the end you have clauses in place. How does a person sell a property in 3 months, and then subject to the property being transferred which takes much more time away. This is extremely sad service and wastes peoples time. Its obvious you can see on bureau and my payslip what my installments are and i am giving you in writing what my payments are. They make you go through all of this and at the end waste your time.
