I have held a data account for my iPad for the last 4 years. I realized that I have been incorrectly billed for Dec and Jan. Before going into the store to query I checked the MyMtn app, it clearly states that the contract start date is 23.09.15 and renewal date is 14.08.2018. I also checked my data usage which is below the 2GB for the last 6 months (I have screen shots). I went in store to query the billing, which I assumed would be a simple process. To my dismay after sitting in a queue for more than 30 mins I was told that my contract had actually ended last year September and that the billing was for data that I had used. When I stated that I had checked the app, I was told to not use it as it very inconsistent and did not always show accurate information - WHY OFFER THIS AS A SERVICE THEN? I was also told that the limit on my account had been set at R 1000.00, which I was not aware of or asked when the account was opened. When I stated that the account balance on my phone is zero I was told, "Oh this is now the new procedure for contracts, can I change it to zero for you?" - A LITTLE LATE DON'T YOU THINK? I queried that when my last 2 year contract ended all services did not work, a Mtn consultant called me to let me know that the contract had ended and offered me a new special rate. Very convenient that this did not happen this time around the limit is set at R 1000.00 and I pay via debit order. There no response as to why I was not contacted this time? When I mentioned that I was happy to pay my normal monthly fee of R 119.00 for 2GB, the consultant told me that its actually cheaper now, it's R49 for 4GB. I am very frustrated as Mtn is going to charge me in excess of R 1000.00 for less that 2GB of data? I have had a data contract with Mtn for approximately 4 years and my mobile phone contract for over 6 years. I have always diligently paid my account on time. There are other service providers out there Mtn - not sure if you are aware, who are all willing to take on new customers. I expect a refund for the overcharge in Dec and Jan (R1247.14) and the account to be closed so that I do not have endure this again! I look forward to your response in writing so that I have a paper trail in place.
