I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with both LG and Makro. I bought a 17KG LG SMART INVERTER washing machine from Makro (WATERVAAL CRESCENT MOODMEAD EXT 5) on 03/11/2024. The machine turned out to be faulty within 6 months. I logged a complaint in April, and unbelievably, I only got a response a month later – delaying things so the warranty can run out? It sure feels like it! A technician finally came and confirmed the motherboard and soft logic closer were faulty. I was told if the part isn’t available in 21 days, the machine will be replaced. It’s now been over a month, and guess what? NOTHING! I received multiple reference numbers from Makro and LG, but no real action. Just excuses, delays, and no accountability. I had no choice but to buy a new Samsung machine, and they fixed everything within days. That’s what real service looks like! Let me be clear: I didn’t get this machine for free. I paid CASH. I didn’t pay for a broken machine. Under South African Consumer Law, I’m entitled to a refund or replacement if a product fails within 6 months. But LG and Makro just want to waste time with endless repairs. At this point, I don’t want the machine repaired. I want a FULL REFUND or brand new replacement – or I will take this matter to court. But they deliberately delayed their response and sent a technician one full month later — clearly just to push the issue past the 6-month window. That’s not just unprofessional — it’s dishonest. Now, they’re saying: “Go to LG. It’s their product.” Really? I paid Makro, not LG. You sold me a faulty product and then washed your hands off the problem. This is called passing the buck, and it’s completely unacceptable. Makro failed to: Respond on time Take responsibility Honour basic consumer protection laws Provide proper customer support Instead, they played the waiting game, hoping I’d give up. Well, I didn’t. I have all proof — invoices, emails, photos, reference numbers — and I’m prepared to take this legally if needed. This was my last purchase from Makro. I will never recommend Makro to anyone again. Absolutely pathetic customer service. Shame on you.
