I have been waiting for a paid-up letter since August, despite logging multiple queries with MTN. Each time I follow up, I am told my case number has been closed without resolution, and I still have not received the letter. Even more concerning, I am still being billed for an account that was meant to be closed. This reflects poor communication, lack of accountability, and ineffective customer service. I am requesting immediate issuance of my paid-up letter, confirmation that the account is closed, and reversal of any incorrect charges. This ongoing issue has been extremely frustrating and unacceptable.
I am beyond frustrated with the way MTN has handled the closure of my cellphone contract. My contract expired on 16 July 2025, and before that, my account was handed over to SSD Attorneys. I paid all outstanding fees and received confirmation of payment. However, when I requested a paid-up letter, I was told that MTN refused to issue one, claiming there was still an amount outstanding and that I should contact their legal department. After following up with MTN Legal, I was informed that I only owed R23, which I paid immediately. Despite this, I have been given the runaround for weeks. Every time I call, I get different stories and amounts. First it was R23, then R200+, now suddenly I’m being told I owe over R700 to "terminate" the account—despite already settling everything. I even spoke to a line manager, Zenzo Ghavala, who promised on 08/08/2025 to close the account and send me proof. It’s now weeks later and still nothing. No callback, no termination letter, and no transparency. Just excuse after excuse. MTN, I need someone to take responsibility. I demand clear communication and immediate proof of account closure. This has gone on for far too long.
Mtn is the worst when it comes to closing off contracts .I had / have a cellphone contract that was handed over to the SSD by MTN with all the fees that I am supposed to pay of which I did with all the hassle and increased amount that kept on accumulating. I called and sent numerous emails to be provided with a paid up letter from ssd , I was then told I should contact mtn legal since mtn refused with the paid up letter for them , I sent mtn legal with response I am now told I have to pay certain fees again that doesn't even have a specific amount even if I do decide to pay for them mind you my contract with that came to an end last month. The only thing that I was suppose to do was to pay for the months that I was in arrears than close it off.See me agin taking anything with mtn, They just **** people with all these hidden clause when they suppose to finish off or even close that contract with them.I feel sorry for all those that have just joined them, they are about to embark on one emotional roller coaster with these people once they have to pay ways
It's been close to two weeks now requsting a paid up letter to provide to Mtn but noting has been received, I got response on this app being told that I will be emailed but to my surprise nothing has been sent beside an acknowledgement email, today is month end and mtn will be my account that I have already paid up for I am rectifing my arrears and credit profile but seems like you guys are making it impossible for most clients to close off accounts that were already handed over a paid up later would not take more than two weeks after the amount was fully paid .even on follow up emails I am ignored
My account was handed over by mtn to ssd . They kept on increasing the amounts owed. I later on requested a settlement amount of which I paid instantly but now I'm being ignored for the settlement letter that I want to provide mtn with to close of the account and not continue to bill me .the next best thing the will be hidden fees that I need to pay since they dont want to give me this settlement letter. I made numerous calls with no avail and emails that only gets refunded now and never returned.
