We attended the 2025 Christmas lunch at this lodge as day visitors and had an unacceptable experience that does not justify the price charged. • No welcome or guest assistance upon arrival • Incorrect table setup (6 seats instead of 8 booked) • No assigned waiter/hostess or explanation of the meal process • Guests left standing due to lack of chairs and place settings • Slow and inconsistent responses to repeated requests Despite the lunch being advertised as a buffet, guests were limited to one serving, after which we were informed that the food had finished. This affected multiple guests and caused visible dissatisfaction. Staff showed little concern or professionalism when questioned. Additionally, hygiene standards were extremely poor. The venue was overwhelmed with flies, and dirty plates and glasses were left unattended on tables for long periods. At R560 per person, this experience was unacceptable and reflects serious operational and management failures. We will not be returning and expect accountability for the poor service delivered.
I am writing to formally express my concern and disappointment regarding the recent cancellation of my order — Order Number: OD435089152138232100 — placed on 1 August 2025 for the Hisense 10 kg Washer Dryer Combo (WD3Q1043BT - Grey). At the time of purchase, the item was clearly listed on your website at a special discounted price of R3,219.00, which I accepted in good faith and completed the order accordingly. The order was confirmed and acknowledged via the Makro system, with the full amount reflected and payment accepted. I have since been informed that my order was cancelled due to a claimed pricing error. Later this afternoon, I received a call from a staff member at the Makro Bloemfontein branch. Unfortunately, instead of assisting with a resolution, the employee responded in a rude and dismissive manner, stating that the error was due to the website team and that I should simply “accept the apology.” The call was abruptly ended when the employee hung up on me, without providing any constructive assistance or escalation path. This experience has only added to my frustration and concern. Not only was my confirmed order cancelled under questionable circumstances, but I was also treated disrespectfully. As a customer who made a good-faith purchase based on information provided by the Makro platform, I feel that I have not been treated fairly. I request that Makro either honours the confirmed transaction or offers a reasonable resolution. The current approach not only reflects poorly on customer service but may also fall short of obligations under the Consumer Protection Act.
