To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint regarding the handling of a cellphone insurance claim by OMART Insure, administered by Worldwide Advisory Services. I insured my cellphone (valued at less than R 30 000) through this provider, paid the required monthly premiums, and expected fair coverage based on that value. However, the following issues occurred: • I was never provided with a formal policy document at the inception of the policy. • I did not sign nor consent to any terms and conditions, nor was I informed of any “bucket value” system that would affect claim outcomes. • Upon lodging a claim, the insurer: o Charged me an excess based on the R30,000 insured value, but o Offered a replacement device of significantly lower value ( considering that the value of my phone has depreciated) , with no satisfactory explanation or breakdown. • The so-called bucket value system and its impact were only explained at the time of claim, not at the point of sale — this is both misleading and contrary to the Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles. • Despite multiple attempts to get clarity and documentation, I still have not received any formal policy or signed agreement. I believe this constitutes: • Non-disclosure of key policy terms, • Unfair claim handling, • Failure to treat me fairly and transparently as required under the FAIS Act and Short-Term Insurance Act. I am requesting the Ombudsman’s assistance in investigating this matter and holding the insurer accountable. I received a call from one of your agent and I informed them that I am not interested in your products, a few minutes later i recieve an SMS with my ID number that I gave consent to you to view my personal information. I never gave consent to anything, and I do not want to be registered to anything. Please cancel whatever you want to do on my name. I am also not aware how you got hold of my personal information
