I recently had my Ford Ecosport's gearbox repaired by Mayfair Gearbox, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. From start to finish, their service was professional, transparent, and of the highest quality. The team provided excellent and continuous communication, keeping me updated throughout the entire process. They conducted a thorough assessment and provided a clear, detailed failure report that accurately diagnosed the issue. The repair work itself is flawless. My gearbox now feels like new—smooth, quiet, and shifting perfectly. It's a night-and-day difference. Despite the immense stress I was facing with my insurance company refusing to pay the claim, the team at Mayfair Gearbox were a source of reliability and expertise. They stood by their work and their diagnosis. A huge thank you to Jannie, Chantal, and the entire management team for your outstanding service and for honouring your one-year warranty. I am writing this review to warn every South African considering a mechanical warranty from Centriq Insurance (underwriter) and AA Warranties/Advantage Motor Protector (the administrator). My experience has been the worst of my life with any company. My Ford Ecosport, a car known for gearbox bearing failures, suffered a complete breakdown. The specialist at Mayfair Gearbox provided a detailed report stating the "bearing FAILED," causing metal debris and consequential damage. This is a known, sudden mechanical failure. Despite my policy explicitly listing "bearings" as a covered internal lubricated part, my claim was repudiated for "wear and tear." This is a blatant lie and an act of bad faith. They ignored their own policy wording and the expert mechanic's report. The service was even worse than the *****ulent claim decision. I was met with condescending attitudes, had to use my own airtime to call them repeatedly, and was left with no communication for weeks. My family was put in danger—my fiancée was almost ******, and my kids got soaked in the rain—because we were forced into unsafe taxis, all while I was paying them R810 a month for "peace of mind." I am aware of other owners with the same car and the same failure whose insurers (like Genric, Dot Sure) paid out without question. Centriq and AA Warranties, however, chose to betray my trust entirely. Save yourself the immense stress, financial strain, and utter disappointment. Avoid this company at all costs. There are honest insurers out there; this is not one of them. I ended up paying the car and canceling all insuranceces
