It is now several months since I first raised this issue, and despite posting an update again on 12 February, I have still received no acknowledgement, no follow‑up, and no resolution from Rand Mutual Assurance (RMA). At this point, the continued silence is extremely concerning and deeply unprofessional. I cancelled my policy in August 2025, yet deductions continued after cancellation. I submitted all required documents in November, and since then I have been chasing for a refund that RMA is fully aware they owe me. Every promise of “we will get back to you” has gone unfulfilled, and now even my public complaints are being ignored. Not a single update. Not a single timeline. Not even basic acknowledgement. This is unacceptable for any financial institution. Due to the ongoing lack of action, poor communication, and failure to resolve this matter, I am now preparing to escalate my case to the Ombudsman for Long‑Term Insurance so that my voice can finally be heard and this issue can be formally addressed. I am giving RMA one last opportunity to respond and resolve this refund immediately before I proceed with the Ombudsman. At this stage, it should not require external intervention for a customer to receive money that was wrongfully deducted. I expect urgent feedback, not more silence.
I am extremely disappointed with the way both Matla Life and RMA have handled my refund query. Despite cancelling my policy in August 2025, money continued to be deducted from my account. I followed all the required steps, submitted every requested document in November, and was repeatedly promised that the refund would be processed “within a week.” Months later, nothing has been paid back to me. After RMA publicly acknowledged my complaint on this platform, I expected proper feedback or progress. However, since that response, I have received no meaningful updates, no timeline, and no indication that anyone is actually working on resolving this issue. To make matters worse, I was later told that the delay is due to Matla Life, and that the matter has been referred to them, yet neither Matla Life nor RMA has taken responsibility or shown any urgency. I am simply left waiting, with no clarity and no resolution. Back in January, I informed RMA that I had recently welcomed a newborn baby and that the refund would greatly assist with my current financial pressures. Unfortunately, this seems to have made no difference to the level of concern or urgency shown by either company. At this point, it feels like customers are expected to chase endlessly for funds that should never have been taken in the first place. The lack of accountability, transparency, and customer care from both Matla Life and RMA is incredibly disappointing. I am exploring every possible avenue to resolve this matter, and I would appreciate guidance from RMA on whether visiting one of their offices in person would result in proper assistance and a quicker resolution because the current process has been ineffective. I simply want the refund owed to me, and for this matter to be treated with the seriousness and urgency it deserves.
RMA has been one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I cancelled my policy in August 2025, yet they continued taking money from my account after cancellation. Since then I have been fighting to get my refund, and it has been nothing but delays, excuses, and broken promises. I submitted every document they requested in November and was told the refund would be processed within a week. That same promise has been repeated over and over with zero action. Months later, I still have no refund. No follow-up emails. No accountability. No real assistance. Calling them is a waste of time, you get told what you want to hear just to get you off the phone. This feels dishonest and completely disrespectful to customers. A company should not have to be chased for money they wrongfully deducted. The level of incompetence and poor service is unacceptable. I regret ever doing business with RMA and would strongly warn others to think twice before signing up.
