Matla Life Investments
Based on recent customer reviews, Matla Life Investments is facing significant customer dissatisfaction, particularly around policy consolidation services involving RMA and Persal deductions. Customers consistently mention unresolved refund disputes, duplicate deductions, and policies allegedly opened without proper consent. A recurring theme is poor communication, with clients reporting unanswered calls, ignored emails, and disconnected support lines. Concerns about broker conduct and transparency are prominent. On a more positive note, a few customers highlight helpful individual agents who successfully assisted with consolidation and cash back payouts, suggesting service quality is highly inconsistent.

I took out a consolidation funeral policy and life cover with Matla Life late last year 2025 and in January 2026 both the funeral insurance and life cover successfully deducted from Persal. First red flag, was when they failed to replace Sanlam Sky and both Matla and Sanlam deducted in January 2026 and I had to go to Persal department in February 2026 to terminate Sanlam sky. 2nd red flag, in February 2026, Matla Life duplicated the funeral policy with a different refence number and I had a double deduction for the same policy. I made this matter known to the financial advisor Paballo who signed me up and she assured me she escalated the matter to finance. In the following days, she no longer responsed to my follow up attempts, 3rd red flag. I then moved to Matla Life Facebook inbox to have someone in finance to assist me with this matter. After failed Facebook and telephonic attempts, automatically disconnects after 2 minutes of holding (4th red flag), I then emailed them on the 16th March 2026 via customer queries department, no response whatsoever, 5th red flag. Furthermore, I went back to Facebook inbox and I was assured someone from head office will call me back, and Thembisile called me back and asked me to email her my payslip and bank statement for the refund. I emailed Thembisile the Administrative rep of Matla life on the 24th March 2026 and she assured me my refund will be paid in 14 working days, red flag number 6. On the 31st of March 2026, I emailed Thembisile once again after another double deduction in March 2026 and once more, she responded with the 7 working days blanket response. Today it's the 17th April 2026 and I am still waiting for my refunds for February and March. So much for excellence, care, integrity and trust pillars of Matla Life, none of which they have adhered to in this matter. If they make me run around like this for my refunds of an issue they created, then they will surely make you bury your loved ones without them having paid for your claim. Be warned and stay away from such bogus insurance companies.

I am extremely disappointed with the way both Matla Life and RMA have handled my refund query. Despite cancelling my policy in August 2025, money continued to be deducted from my account. I followed all the required steps, submitted every requested document in November, and was repeatedly promised that the refund would be processed “within a week.” Months later, nothing has been paid back to me. After RMA publicly acknowledged my complaint on this platform, I expected proper feedback or progress. However, since that response, I have received no meaningful updates, no timeline, and no indication that anyone is actually working on resolving this issue. To make matters worse, I was later told that the delay is due to Matla Life, and that the matter has been referred to them, yet neither Matla Life nor RMA has taken responsibility or shown any urgency. I am simply left waiting, with no clarity and no resolution. Back in January, I informed RMA that I had recently welcomed a newborn baby and that the refund would greatly assist with my current financial pressures. Unfortunately, this seems to have made no difference to the level of concern or urgency shown by either company. At this point, it feels like customers are expected to chase endlessly for funds that should never have been taken in the first place. The lack of accountability, transparency, and customer care from both Matla Life and RMA is incredibly disappointing. I am exploring every possible avenue to resolve this matter, and I would appreciate guidance from RMA on whether visiting one of their offices in person would result in proper assistance and a quicker resolution because the current process has been ineffective. I simply want the refund owed to me, and for this matter to be treated with the seriousness and urgency it deserves.

I don't know whether I must scream for these ****mers to pay me back, they have been promising to pay me back my premiums since December, to date I haven't received any money from them, that time my 10 years premiums from three different companies have been forfeited. I will not rest until they give me back my money.

Had a very bad experience. They sold RMA to consolidate insurence instead they deducted money but consolidation wasn't done. I've been battling to get refund in the past 2 months. The last lie I heard was when I was tod the money has been deposited into my account when I ask that to be writing they send me their personal numbers. Mine is to report to Ombusdsman now. After xancellation they continued to access my records, for what?

Bad experience. I trusted the lady who promised to consolidate instead they opened a new policy under my name. Will and life cover with Capital but nothing was stated on a will either, no witnesses nothing. I've been struggling to get refund they send me from pillar to post. Now am receiving policy cancellation from old policy. My documents are showing someone else instead of a person that made me apply for policy. Now they are ignoring my calls
