paid R700 for a digital version of a book. never received the book that i paid for. They want me to download some 3rd-party software on my computer to view the book, but I STILL don't have possession of the digital book after doing that. Can't access the book while offline. Can't even print a single page so that I can put together a study folder for when travelling or don't have access to my computer... you literally pay R700 to be able to only VIEW the book, on their terms. You never receive the digital book and you don't own the book. Never buying from them again. THESE practices are why people rather pirate things, rather than buy them from the legit sources, because the legit sources ***** you in every possible way. I got a high quality pdf of the book afterwards from a guy on campus for just R50, so there you go Juta, you achieved nothing but to lose a customer.

Rain (ISP) in South Africa has for a very long time been accused of throttling customers without their knowledge and lying about the speed of their network and I recently joined Rain to find out (to my dismay) that they indeed throttle customers. I currently pay for a 10mb/s unshaped, unthrottled package, yet I am only able to get 1mb/s speed. I can CLEARLY see that I am being throttled AND shaped because when I go to certain websites (like a speed checking website) then I am able to download at 10mb/s exactly, yet when I go to Youtube or Netflix, then I am limited to EXACTLY 1mb/s. I am canceling my package with Rain and reporting them to the CPA and BBB.
The Computer Shop (TCS St Francis Bay). They are cheaper than the competitors in the area and they do what they actually claim... they said 10meg a second, and that's what I got... It's never below 10meg, unless the weather is VERY cloudy. I also download/upload over 500GB a month and I'm never throttled or limited. Their staff are also knowledgeable and speak to you like a valued customer, not just a person who is there to take up their time.
I've made probably 200+ separate purchases over the past 5+ years with takealot, totaling easily R100k+ in products and I've only EVER had 2 bad experiences, which were both resolved very quickly, so honestly I've got nothing but respect for takealot... they have a 99% satisfaction rate afaik and on the instances where they *****ed it up, they admitted it and solved it. I DO however have to say that they 'marketplace seller' system is totally broken all the way from the application process to the curation of the products sold by the 3rd-parties on their website, because there's some VERY poor quality products on their website being sold by 3rd-parties and they're not doing anything about it, even after they've been notified of counterfeit goods and poor quality goods... but overall, I'm a happy customer. Keep it up
HILARIOUSLY overpriced. R500+ 'initiation fee' plus a monthly subscription PLUS fees everytime you transact. And they have no customer service at all. Avoid at all costs. And it's a REAL shame that takealot.com chooses to do business with this scam of a company
I booked my car rental 2 weeks in advance, so OBVIOUSLY when I arrived at the 'first car rental' branch in PE to pick up my rental car, I was expecting it to be ready for me (as it always is at AVIS for instance). BUT NO... I had to wait 50 minutes! 50 minutes! before I was finally able to get into my rental car and drive away. And ontop of that, they have HIDDEN COSTS! A full R300 of hidden costs and 'admin fees' that they add on to the R9000 deposit fee... When I gave them my credit card to pay for the R9000 deposit, I asked the woman behind the counter "What's this? It's supposed to be R9000. You said it's R9000 for the deposit". And she said: "But sir you signed the documentation, you should read it." It turns out that APART from the price which they charge you on their website for the car, which was already around R1000+, they have a whole bunch of hidden costs when you have to pay when you pick your car up... "Fuel Charge", "E-Toll Charge", "Admin Charge", etc. It just goes on and on! They had 5 different hidden costs, all totaling to almost R300! I ask the woman behind the counter: "What's this 'Fuel Charge' that you're charging me for", and she said "It's in-case you bring the car back with less fuel than what it had in it"... And I'm like: "Well OF COURSE it's going to have less fuel in it than what it had, because there's no possible way for me to return the car to you with a 100% full tank of petrol!"... I'm telling you, this company just steals money from you in every which way that they can... AVIS has NO hidden costs ever... the only reason why I used this 'first car rental' this one time is because the stupid ****** 'flysafair' website has an exclusive contract with this piece of trash company, so you literally have no other option but to use 'first car rental'. I'm telling you what: After this experience, I'm NEVER using 'first car rental' ever again and I've NEVER flying 'flysafair' again! And nobody in my family will use them either. I've already posted about this horrible experience on my home-town's facebook page and I've told all of the executives in the meeting that I was 50minutes late for about this trash company 'first car rental' and how they should avoid it at all costs unless they want to pay tonnes of hidden costs AND have their time wasted by gross incompetence.
They don't honor orders that have been already placed and paid for. I've ordered over 50 times from other online retails like takealot, loot and amazon, and I've NEVER had an order canceled because they 'don't have stock', yet at Raru your orders are routinely canceled for this reason. I ordered multiple amounts of 3 different products and all 3 of the products are suddenly 'out of stock'. This is bull. This has NEVER happened with other retailers so how can it happen 3 times with 1 order, on Raru? IF YOU DON'T HAVE STOCK, THEN DON'T LIST THE PRODUCT ON YOUR ****TY WEBSITE!!
I just received advertisement spam on my phone at 1:00am in the morning from a number +27 784738803 and 081 4790553 . Needless to say, I got woken up and am livid at this very moment. WHO THE HELL sends out ad spam at 1:00am? I also sent a complain via the company's website at firstchoicefinancialservice [URL Removed] and you can be assured that I'll be posting similar complaints on yelp [URL Removed] and many other websites.

I NEVER respond to ads, and you'd think that after over 10 years of me NEVER buying into anything that any telemarketers have to sell, that they'd get the bloody message right? Well apparently not... I'll be bad mouthing firstchoicefinancialservice at EVERY opportunity that I get from now on.
