I first met Mark Lawson, MD of Exchange 4 Free, by sheer chance at the Travel Indaba (Durban ICC) over the weekend of 7-9 May 2016. I attended the Travel Indaba in the hopes of sourcing new clients in the travel industry. I did not go there with the intention of finding a currency exchange company.

Their logo "send and receive money for free globally" (or something similar) caught my attention, as up until this point, I was using my Bidvest World Currency card to send/receive money. The problem was that Bidvest was robbing me blind at a ridiculous 6% currency conversion fee, in addition to a $3.75 ATM withdrawal fee.

Although international currency exchange was not the primary reason for me attending the Indaba, I got very curious as to how this whole process worked, and Mark Lawson was there to answer all my questions. Even after I returned back home (to Cape Town) from the Indaba, I still had many questions as to how it worked as I've never sent or received money internationally prior to this.

Mark and his team, Marco Contreiras and Matthew Lawson, assisted me with all my questions. I finally signed up as a client, and they even allowed me to transfer as little as R19,000, even though they generally only accept from R30,000 and higher. I was a little nervous as I was not sure how long it would take in practice, since the Russian banks advised a 10-day waiting period. Exactly one week later, the money landed into my Russian bank account, and their fees were so much lower than Bidvest's ridiculously high rate of 6%.

I would certainly encourage any person to make use of Exchange 4 Free, not only because their rates are the lowest in the nation, but mostly because they take the time to answer all your questions, and at times, Mark even answered some of my emails as late as 11pm at night, which is unheard of these days.

Thanks for making me a believer in your product and service and I'll most certainly keep using Exchange 4 Free as my preferred currency exchange provider from hence forth. Bidvest Bank just lost me as a customer - at least on international currency exchange transactions, and I would like to encourage everyone seeking an honest, no-BS service provider, to make use of Exchange 4 Free.

Regards,
Nazeem Dollie
a South African patriot now living in the Russian Federation
(formerly from Cape Town)

I want to take a moment to say Большое спасибо to Maria Shishmareva for amazing and efficient service in helping me get my 90-day Russian visa to see my wife in Russia. She took the time to personally sign, verify and stamp my Russian/English apostle, which was the final document I needed to emigrate to Russia.

She's also helped me in 2015 and 2014 with my tourist visa to Russia and I'm almost quite sure she also helped me with my 2012 tourist visa to Russia. I wish more staff could be as helpful and efficient as Maria and I can say as a South African citizen that she is certainly more helpful and friendly than our staff at Home Affairs. I wish that South African civil servants could produce the same quality work.

I'm emigrating to Russia to become a Russian citizen and Maria made the effort to source the correct information from the FMS (Federal Migration Service) regarding my Residence Permit, when she could so easily have advised me to simply check the FMS website. Keep up the awesome work and know that Russia can be proud to have great people like you representing the Russian Federation in South Africa ;)

Hi Virgin, Just a quick word of thanks to your Central Resolutions Specialist, Dave Luis, who went above and beyond the call of duty to arrange me 3 days access at one of your branches in Durban. I flew to Durban with my team to attend the 2016 Travel Indaba over the weekend of 7,8,9 May 2016. Unfortunately, due to very violent winter storms, strong winds, and the fact that we had to be up at 6am and compounded by the fact that we only came home at around 11pm after our team dinner, I wasn't able to attend any of my planned gym sessions in Durban. However, this e-mail is not a complaint about the fact that I wasn't able to train, but rather to acknowledge that Dave went beyond the call of duty to arrange this for me. He also ensured that I did not have to pay the full 40% cancellation fee when my wife had to fly back to Russia on the last moment. He persuaded management to half this fee and also ensured that when Discovery/Vitality made a mistake with my cancellation, that the surcharge was wired back into my account. Everyday we only hear people complain about the bad things, but for once let's take our hat off for people like Dave when things go right! I am emigrating to Russia on Fri, 27th May 2016 for good, and am renouncing my South African citizenship to attain Russian citizenship. Initially my idea was that our kids will be reared to become the future Springboks for our nation, but now we'll have to train them to become world-class ice-hockey skaters for Russia, or to win Wimbledon if it's a girl :) Nazeem Dollie
Reference: Waybill # 4770126970

I popped in at 3@1, Cavendish Square, on Saturday, 26th Sept 2015 , where I was davised that if I paid R350 for DHL Express, that my document would arrive in Russia (Perm KIrai, Kungur) within 2-3 working days. I understood that weekends do not count, but that it would reach my fiance for the VERY LATEST by Thursday, 1st Oct 2015. Now the tracking number says \estimated time of delivery - Monday
