We placed an order at Popeye's Cresta on the evening of 5/5/2023 via the Mr D app. The total came to R370. On finalization of the order we were informed that we must collect the order ourselves and it would not be delivered. This we did, and in store realized that the price of the goods in store are only R305 and not the R371 we were charged by Mr D. The store also confirmed that they do use Mr D and that Mr D do collect form them. This means that we were charged 20% of the order value (R70) just to facilitate the order and NOT deliver the goods. This is completely ridiculous! I have taken this up with Mr D to no avail. I will never order from Mr D ever again. What a bunch of *********** ******.
On 2 March 2021 a municipal water main burst on the pavement in front of my house which caused the soil to get so waterlogged that the boundary wall started leaning over and cracking in several places. I registered a claim with ABSA Insurance on 3 March 2021, who sent out an assessor a couple of weeks later and then an engineer in May 2021. ABSA then rejected my claim saying that the wall was not built according to regulations and that there was no proof of the incident ever happening. I sent them video and photos of the 2 meter deep hole that was dug to get to the pipe as well as proof that the water was gushing from the pipe as well as the Joburg Water reference number months ago. My house was built in 1979, 5 years prior to the promulgation of the regulations they refer to, but they insist it was not built according to these regulations. It was definitely NOT built according to these regulations because the regulations only came 5 years AFTER it was built. I have taken this case to the ombudsman as well, but I'm still waiting for resolution from ABSA 9 1/2 months later. To date, I have not been contacted by any ABSA staff member, only sent a rejection letter. Maybe this is exactly what they mean by : ‘Africanacity’ - It’s the way we get things done.
On 21 April 2019, my alarm at my house was activated. The BESTSECURE reaction officer responded to the alarm activation. While checking my property, he noticed an open window and stole an item through the burglar proofing. This was all caught on CCTV. I had the BESTSECURE operations manager at my house to look at the video and this person agreed that the officer seemed to steal something from my house. When confronting BESTSECURE management via my attorney, they disputed the theft and said I do not have any proof, despite the video footage. They refused to replace my stolen property. I paid this company to protect my family and my property, but instead, their staff member was the criminal I was supposed to be protected against. A police case was opened and I'm awaiting the outcome thereof. BE WARNED, DO NOT USE BESTSECURE. THEY ARE THEIVES!!
