On 28 December 2017, (Thursday) at 14:07, my wife purchased a 200g Royco Pasta Base for Bolognaise from Kwikspar at Escombe Durban for supper. Invoice number 0229; Till 001; Cashier 13. Royco Pasta Base for Bolognaise Batch details: 726D1CAP01; Best Before: 29 June 2018 (at time of 08:47 JAN is also noted). Around 17:00 she cut the packaging open. She noticed something inside and immediately called me, as she was a-bit historical. I opened the sachet and noticed a solid object inside. At first, I thought perhaps it’s a clump of meat, and immediately looked at the ingredients on the back. Meat was not a part of the ingredients. I scooped it out with a table s**** for a closer look. It was a thick slug which I measured to be 9cm long. The both of us felt sick with disgust, and cannot look at Royco products in the same way we use too. We no longer trust Mars Africa (Pty) Ltd to provide us (SA families) with safe, non-contaminated products. This type of carelessness does not stop with a Hello Peter complaint. I will be contacting local Press. I still have the item in my fridge so that local authorities can test the authenticity of this complaint. Awaiting Response from Mars Africa (Pty) Ltd.
