I cannot begin to express the disappointment that I have in FNB right now!! I recently app**** for a bond on a property that I am buying. The application was done through a bond originator that submitted it too all the major local banks. I received approval from these banks, including FNB, however, the interest rate that I received from FNB was the highest. I queried the rate given and was told that they would not better and would only match a rate that was given by another bank, which they then did and matched the offer from Absa which was the best. I then complained again and FNB came back and gave me a 0.05% decrease on the rate, which was a slap in the face. I have been a customer of FNB, and ONLY FNB since I was eight years old, it was still an old BOB account that I started with. That is THIRTY years that I have been with FNB. I am now a private wealth customer, with my entire portfolio with FNB, including my house and vehicle insurances. I also have my business portfolio with FNB. I have had credit cards, vehicle loans, overdrafts, and revolving loans with FNB, and have never ever once missed or defaulted on a repayment. So my question is this. How is it, that a bank that I have never ever dealt with, is prepared to give me a better interest rate on a home loan than the bank that I have been with for THIRTY years. A bank that I have dealt with for my entire life is only prepared TO MATCH the rate of a bank that I have never dealt with, its pathetic. After so many years, and the credit rating that I have built with FNB over these years, they should be leading the pack in these offerings. I tried my best to keep everything with FNB, going back to them numerous times to request that they assist me with a better interest rate on this purchase, but they were just not prepared to assist. "FNB, how can we help you.....", what a joke. Well, FNB, I have now accepted the bond offer that was received from ABSA. I will now be moving my entire portfolio over to ABSA, including my Transactional account, Credit Card, Home and Vehicle insurance, EVERYTHING. My trust will also be moving their transactional and entire savings over to ABSA. I will also be moving my business account, with a very decent annual turnover, over to ABSA. Thirty years of loyal service to FNB is now sadly over, and I look forward to supporting a bank that was willing to support me when I needed it.
Firstly I must say that I never ever thought that I would be so disappointed by FNB that I would be expressing it on this platform. I have been with them since I was 8 years old (26 years) and have always been loyal to them and have never once had another bank account, and in fact, used to recommended and promote them whenever possible....but no more!! So here is my story...…. After the past few months I have found myself over committed and am battling to meet my monthly financial commitments. I have quite allot of debt, almost all with FNB, in the form of 2 credit cards, a personal loan and a revolving loan. I do however have a fully paid off 54 hectare farm, valued at R3.6m. In an attempt to avoid debt counseling and reduce my monthly payments, I approached the FNB credit department and asked them if there was anyway that my loans could be restructured to reduce the monthly repayments and help me keep my head above water. Their answer was NO. Even though that's exactly what would happen if I had to follow the debt review process!! I then decided to approach the home loans to see if I could consolidate all my debt into a home loan account. I didn't want to apply for any more credit, but just consolidate my current debt into a home loan account with my R3.6m farm as surety. The answer was NO. I was however advised to approach the private clients department. After meeting with a private clients banker, I was told that I would need to move my platinum accounts over to private clients and then they would be able to look into assisting me, which I did. After all accounts where moved over to Private Clients, I was then advised by them that they would not be able to assist me as it does not fall within their scope. I then also noticed that my interest rate had been changed from 11.25% on my Platinum credit Card, to a crazy 20.75% on the private clients credit card. I was under the impression that the move over from Platinum to Private clients was a straight shift of accounts in order to assist me, and not a money making opportunity for FNB. I approached FNB to help me reduce my monthly installments, and instead they have made it worse by R1000 a month more on interest!! I have now tried every avenue to get help from them and I'm still worse off than before this process. I don't understand how my bank is not willing to consolidate my debt for me into a home loan account, especially when my fully paid off property is valued at seven times more than my current debt!! And on top of that, trick me into interest rate that is now costing me R1000 more a month. I have finally just realized that I am with a bank that asks its customer "How can we help you"...….well you can.....but you don't!! After 26 years with FNB, I will unfortunately now be approaching other banks to find one that is actually prepared to help me when I need it, and will be moving all my accounts over to that bank when I find it.
About 2 months ago I took my vehicle to Sa Canopy in East London to have new hinges, rubbers and swing arm fitted. This was done without issue. One month later/one month ago, I needed to take the Canopy off as we where moving houses and I needed to load items such as my fridge. The canopy would not come off. I then noticed that they had glued the canopy to the vehicle. I then asked my fiancee to take the vehicle in for me so that they could loosen the canopy, which they did. However, by the time she got home with the vehicle, the rubbers where hanging off the sides and had not been glued to the canopy, and the back right side bracket was completely loose. I then took the canopy off and noticed that the front seal that they re did for me, was also completely skew, and was glued on into the actual load body and not onto the "lip" as it should be done. I now took it back to Sa Canopy this morning to see if they could fix the things that where not done properly in the first place. I was met by an extremely arrogant guy by the name of Anthoney. I explained the issue to him and showed him the problems, but was then told that they would not fix it because as soon as the canopy is removed, the warranty is lost. I explained to him that neither I or my fiance were informed of a warranty, or loss of warranty, and that all I needed was for them to fix what I paid for in the beginning. He then started treating me like I was stupid, saying things like,"its really not difficult to understand", and " how do you not understand this" to which I responded that he must not talk to me like an idiot and that I am more educated than he might think. I asked him again to please fix the things that where not done correctly the first time. He responded that this is a business and he would not do it for free as I have lost my warranty. I then got really upset and said to him that it wasn't .......ing done properly the first time!! He said that the glue had rubbed off because we had traveled with the canopy loose because my fiancee had told him not too tighten it, thats absolute rubbish, and even if that was the case, why on earth would you release a vehicle from your service, that wasn't fit to travel. A loose canopy is a major hazard on the road, and this Anthony blamed it on that. Well if that is the case, you should have never allowed a vehicle to leave with a canopy that hasn't been properly secured. This falls completely inline with the rest of the poor workmanship that is provided at SA Canopy!!
