Public Warning About Turnkey Building Contractors
We are writing this to warn others to stay clear of Turnkey Building Contractors . We are not one to make statements for the public eye but we really want to raise awareness so we can prevent people from experiencing what happened to us. Our experience with them during a home renovation was extremely disappointing and frustrating. Not much paper trail of what we asked for was taken by them during our meets. In fact we took our time to write the list of what wanted and sent it to them and they still conveniently left specifics and items off the quotations which when pointed out they stated it was missed or they trying to save the costs. The start or the project was a delusion, it seemed so professional and organized and that's why we went with them and paid this massive deposit they required. A week down the line the team demonstrated a lack of professionalism , poor communication, and made numerous rookie mistakes that should never happen in any construction or renovation job. This company even put in doors in the rooms and left out windows.. Can you imagine...this was clearly stated on our requirement list. What was supposed to be a straight forward renovation turned into a stressful ordeal due to their lack of professionalism and poor workmanship. Their "project manager" was hardly even onsite and told us he would meet with us multiple times and would most of the time not show and come up with some excuse. Despite multiple opportunities to correct their errors, the same problems kept occurring, and we were left dealing with delays, subpar workmanship, and careless oversights . We expected a professional standard of work, but what we received fell far short. We also asked for a detailed invoice showing vat and ex vat amounts for each item but they were not willing to comply and got extremely aggravated when asked for one. They threatened us many times to walk away from the project and leave us with an incomplete house full of rubble if we didn't pay certain amounts and claimed they were on track with the all the work, while still to this day some items remain incomplete. Some projects that they originally invoiced for were just dropped and they decided they will not be doing them which left us to find alternative specialist however turnkey name this was meant to be a turnkey approach. They did not stick to deadline and they did not provide professional workmanship and quality. They tried to keep us on a leash, if we didn't keep quiet, keep paying and stick with them we would loose our very large deposit, and not be able to move in in time and be left without an acceptable place to stay. They claim we still owe them money but have paid over half a million to them and our accountant has done a recon which was sent to them and they failed to respond with reasoning for the amounts they say we owed the. We have plenty of proof, recordings, emails, WhatsApps, testimonies from their contracted staff and pictures of the poor workmanship. They claimed that they were ill treated with no proof, frankly maybe just a little too sensitive and got upset when their poor workmanship was being raised, we even helped go get some of the things personally when they did not have staff with a vehicle, we also gave their staff KFC and some clothes at out own discretion. There lack of response to our emails, phones calls and WhatsApps were shocking. They also wanted to charge us extra for common decency of moving the dishwasher and washing machine into place after redoing the kitchen and for taking some extra stuff to the dump when their staff offered to do so at no cost and when we said your boss wants to charge they said no don't worry. So also clearly a problem between the staff and management. Things that any competent builder should know how to handle were done wrong — multiple times. Instead of taking responsibility or fixing issues properly, they gave excuses, missed deadlines, and left us with a mess to sort out on our own. The company is run by husband and wife and therefor obviously no one of real authority to deal with any issues. We were **** to blatantly many times stating there were superiors and management but the whole time it was just the 2 of them. There is 2 full a4 pages in simple bullet point form that we could share but the important thing is that people have an overall awareness. We are beyond shocked that we did not come across any former complaints as we feel this is impossible due to the scale of the issues we had. We would have really liked to believe they would learn from their mistakes and do better but since they were so reluctant to take responsibility and admit their faults we know this is not the case. While there are always snags and renovation is not easy. They definitely are the worst and only one worth a public complaint that we have dealt with before. If you are considering using Turnkey Building contractors, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere . Save yourself the stress, frustration, and extra costs — this company is not reliable or professional enough to trust with your home

Anyone considering dealing with Michanic I have posted this for your safety.
Warning: Do not deal with Michanic. My Car’s Turbo broke on 24 March 2022: Called Michanic who sent mechanic (James Stewart Webster)- he said Turbo must be reconditioned and car to go into their garage. I had it towed there at my cost on the 27th March: Michanic took it upon themselves to replace with NEW turbo (not as per mechanics advice to me). AT a cost of almost R15 000 including labour. Car was ready for collection a week later: Supposedly fixed. On way home engine light came on. Once again, I had car towed to Mechanics garage at my cost: 2 weeks later They said the car was ready: Again, supposedly fixed. 1 day later engine light came on again. Michanic agreed to tow car back to garage- never arrived. Actual mechanic eventually organised someone to come to fetch car: Yet again 2 weeks later had to go collect the car, again engine light came on. Had to call countless times, countless emails with no responses or anyone getting back to me. Took 2 months for them to eventually return my original turbo and remove their ‘new’ replacement as their so-called mechanics could not actually fix it. Took another 12 days to get a partial refund from Michanic- supposedly for the part. They refused to refund labour as they said I must get that back from mechanics personally. The one Mechanic James Stewart Webster refused and blocked me and ran away with my money. Michanic stated it’s not their problem. Refund I received had a service charge deducted. No service received whatsoever. Car was never fixed by them, and I paid for every tow and to fetch my car every time. The staff cannot speak English correctly and have no idea how to handle customers or when they actually can’t provide the service. During this whole process not once did I get updates without me phoning in. I had to use uber for 2 months at my cost as they had absolutely no solution to anything. I do not actually understand how they are still operating besides for absolute exploitation. I then took my car to a wonderful turbo business in Alberton, and it took them 3 days at half the price, ABSOLUTELY NO ISSUES. So you tell me?? Worth dealing with these individuals? Anyone considering dealing with Michanic I have posted this for your safety.

Refund
So I booked for 3 nights at Gonubie Hotel from the 31st to the 3rd Jan. . And they called me to cancel this morning (2 days before) as of Cyrils speech yesterday they are closing. They will not refund me only give me vouchers for another time. All 3 other accommodation places i phoned said even if we have a strict no refund policy, if we cancel we have to refund u. Otherwise it's basically a scam system...I spoke to a attorney in Gonubie and she says they are probably desperate for the money. Any thoughts or advice?
