Based on recent customer reviews, Michanic delivers a sharply polarised customer experience. When things go well, customers praise the convenience of mobile mechanics, friendly technicians, and professional service at their doorstep. However, a recurring pattern of unresolved repairs, misdiagnoses, poor follow-up communication, and disputed refunds significantly undermines trust. The business scores well on staff friendliness but struggles with repair quality, aftercare, and accountability.

I am writing this to warn other consumers, particularly those with high-precision engines, about my experience with Michanic. My experience has revealed a disturbing pattern of misrepresentation regarding accreditation, technician experience, and the quality of parts supp****. 1. Misrepresented Accreditation (RMI) Michanic markets itself on corporate platforms (including MultiChoice) as "RMI Accredited." However, in writing, they have admitted their RMI accreditation is expired. Using a lapsed professional status to gain consumer trust is a deceptive trade practice under Section 41 of the CPA. 2. Incorrect/Obsolete Parts Despite claims of using "OEM Quality Parts," they installed a timing tensioner (LR051008) that is explicitly marked as Obsolete by Land Rover and was superseded years ago due to design failures (Ref: LTB00474). Installing parts the manufacturer has withdrawn is a failure of the Imp**** Warranty of Quality. 3. Material Breach of Scope I was given written confirmation that a full timing overhaul would include all three (3) timing chains. They omitted the primary oil pump/HPFP drive chain—a critical timed component on the JLR 5.0L engine—yet proceeded with the job. 4. Questionable Technician Experience While marketing "16 years of experience," the technician assigned was operating as a generalist mobile mechanic (Nzoli Group) as recently as 2019. The gap between "Master" level brand specialization and the reality of the service delivered resulted in an engine that presented new misfires and mechanical noise immediately after their intervention. 5. Negligence The vehicle was left partially dismantled for over two weeks. I was ultimately forced to move the vehicle in a vulnerable state to an independent specialist to prevent further environmental damage and mitigate my losses. Verdict: If you value your vehicle’s mechanical integrity, be extremely cautious. Ensure you verify RMI status independently and demand an itemized parts list before work begins. I have escalated this matter to the relevant corporate bodies and will be lodging a formal record of their conduct.

I previously rated 5 star because the guys seemed efficient and honest. A few weeks and 1000km later I see things I was charged for were never done. A slow puncture front left was still a slow puncture front left after supposed rotation. The brakes were supposably good but after 1000km metal to metal needing replacement.

Not happy this time. They serviced my car before. Was ok.I asked them to give me a quote for my turbo last year.Their price R44 000+.Another company fixed it for R7 700.What a big difference. This time after 3 diagnostic reports shows the clutch needs bleeding (which i paid them R2700 - included replacement of engine heat sensor ) They didn't bleed anything but rather sent me another quote of R6148 for another job they believe they can fix.Do they think I'm stupid.I don't trust them and i didn't ask for a quote.I will rather take my car to a garage where there's honest people and where i can get a guarantee.Cosmore thanks for bringing the right part today and fixed the sensor.I can see you are only doing your job but i'm done with this company.

Well, you guys really pulled a rabbit out of your hats. You have saved this client. From a once very dissatisfied client you have managed to flip things to a very satisfied client. Well done. THIS is what I expected of you, keep THIS up.

Based on recent customer reviews, this business delivers a consistently strong customer experience anchored by outstanding agent quality and rapid communication. Customers frequently name individual consultants and praise their friendliness, patience, and professionalism. Recurring praise is given to claims and roadside assistance, though a vocal minority report frustrating delays, rejected claims, and poor transparency around premium increases.
This business's biggest strength, according to Hellopeter's AI analysis, is Agent Quality & Customer Care. Named consultants are praised repeatedly for patience, friendliness, and going above and beyond. Words like 'amazing,' 'star,' and 'gem' appear frequently, reflecting genuinely caring human interactions.
The most common complaint, based on Hellopeter's AI analysis of recent customer reviews, is Pricing, Premiums & Transparency. Customers appreciate premium reductions upon request but complain about unexplained annual increases, hidden excess charges, and debits continuing after cancellation. Transparency at policy inception is a recurring gap.
