We booked them for a very specific date to move our house content from Durban to Cape. We paid our deposit a week before the move. 2 days later we get a call stating they cant help us anymore. Paid our deposit back but because of late notice we had to scramble around to find another moving company. 1 available at R15 000 more and we had no choice but to pay it. Very disappointed in Smart Removals.
I entrusted my 2 cats (first children) to this company to fly my cats from Cape Town to Durban. We had to plan well so that they will not be upset by the movers thus asked for boarding first before the flight. Firstly, a phone call to say they cant make the asked day. I insisted. Then once they left, I had no communication as to how they are or if they are ok. I have told the owner that I am very attached to them and they are 11 years old already. No reply. Except for 1 whatsapp voice message saying the one cat drinks too much water and might have medical issues. Then after our arrival im Durban I asked when our cats will arrive. It was planned for the day after our arrival. More excuses that she cant find her agent at our side. Then another day later...the agent she found wanted to charge extra and will I be willing to fetch them from the airport. I planned accordingly and when I asked for the flight details was told she already asked a friend to bring then the next day. So 3 days later my cats arrived. Very sad, frustrated and boxed in. It took me 2 weeks to calm them down. All of a sudden, Im flooded with messages to ask how my "babies" are doing. Im sorry. If this company is known for overseas flights I very worried about the wellbeing of the pets.
We were very impressed with the quick quote and good price. Arrived on time but then the truck wasnt big enough for all out things and they rushed to finish packing. We had to leave several things behind with just a shrug of "couldnt care less". Arrived at our new home a day early without us being there yet. Then the truck was too big and we had extra costs to hire a smaller truck to help. Although quoted that they will unpack too...they did not. Everything was dumped where they could find a spot. I started unpacking whilst they were offloading and found several broken items. Another shrug with a comment to just write a report. The more I unpacked over the next few days the more I could see how they literally just shoved things into boxes with wrong labels. Olive oile broken because it was shoved in a box with my meat grinder. Several crystal glasses broken. 2 very expensive masks with more than R35 000 value shoved in a box with computers and smashed to bits. And strangely enough...stole my brandy...left the fortune of wine though...This company should not be used
